At Peridot, we are committed to recruiting with integrity and values. We can work with you to appoint inspiring Chief Executives, Executive Directors and Board Members that will positively impact the leadership of Scottish charities.
Our recruitment in Scotland is delivered by Martin McCormick, an experienced consultant who has worked in recruitment and business management since 2006 with a track record spanning the charity, not-for-profit, finance, central government and commercial sectors.
There are currently more than 24,000 charities in Scotland handling £14billion of income each year. It is a wide ranging and exciting sector packed with small charities active in local communities and large organisations working both nationally and internationally. Regardless of your organisation’s size, we will work in partnership to get under the skin of what you do, where you want to go and help you make progress towards your charitable purpose.
We have been working in Scotland for many years and are now investing to grow our presence significantly. We have wide-ranging experience in helping charities appoint Chief Executives, Trustees, Board Members and Executive Directors.
We also know that diverse organisations and their boards have better debates and better decision-making processes, think more innovatively, and generate more creative solutions. Whatever skillset is required, we always strive to ensure that the leaders we help to appoint reflect the diversity of our clients and wider society.
We have worked with charities that support visually impaired people with lived experience of sight loss. We have worked with a host of LGBTQ+ charities, and recently, we worked with a charity which supports migrants who wanted people on their board with lived experience of being a migrant or refugee.
Roles we can help with:
“Peridot did an excellent job all round and found us a rich and diverse field to choose from.
They handled the process very professionally and communicated well with candidates throughout the process. They are also very good value for money given the amount of time they spent with us face-to-face and in conference calls.”
Nigel Chapman, Chair at Nacro (on recruiting Trustees)
We love what we do, and we do it with passion and values. At Peridot, we do not believe in throwaway statements about diversity, instead it is at the heart of everything we do.
We work tirelessly to ensure that we are leading inclusive campaigns and projects that encourage all members of society to apply and know that they will be treated with decency and respect.
We know that the sectors that our clients operate in are not always as diverse as many of the people that use their services, so we are committed to working in partnership with organisations across the Scottish not-for-profit sector to address this.
A study conducted by Scottish Labour leader, Anas Sarwar, concluded:
We believe that a more diverse not-for-profit sector will provide better leadership to accelerate positive change in society. That is why we exist to help charities create better, more inclusive leadership.
We are proud to have an exceptional track record of leading inclusive recruitment campaigns that enhance board diversity. Over 60% of our senior appointments in 2020 were people with protected diversity characteristics, and 35% people from Ethnic Minority backgrounds.
Whether you are looking for new chief executive, executive leadership team, one board member or a total board refresh, we have the expertise to help. Our commitment to building diverse organisations starts with us, and we are proud that Women, LGBTQ+, Disabled and people from ethnic minorities consider Peridot a great place to work.
