1. Policy Statement
At Peridot Partners, we recognise our responsibility to protect the environment and contribute to a sustainable future. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact, achieving continual improvement, and aligning our operations with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This Environmental Policy complements our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy.
Our aim is to embed environmental responsibility across all aspects of our work, from how we travel, purchase, and consume resources, to how we partner with clients, candidates, and suppliers.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all Peridot Partners employees, associates, contractors and interns, whether working in our offices, remotely, or representing us externally.
3. Responsibilities
- Board of Directors: Overall accountability for policy implementation and performance.
- Social Impact Group: Coordinates environmental initiatives and reports annually.
- All colleagues: Responsible for applying the principles of this policy in their daily work.
4. Commitments
4.1 Compliance and Governance
- Comply with all relevant UK environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and review our environmental performance annually, reporting outcomes through our Social Impact Report.
- Use the B Impact Assessment to benchmark progress and drive continual improvement.
4.2 Carbon Reduction
- Calculate and publish our carbon footprint annually.
- Set clear objectives for reducing emissions, with the long-term aim of achieving Net Zero in line with UK government targets.
- Prioritise digital meetings over business travel, and when travel is necessary, favour public transport and low-carbon options.
- Short hall flights unless no other travel routes are possible should be avoided when travel via rail can be achieved in 4 hours or less.
4.3 Energy, Waste and Resources
- We will source energy-efficient office spaces and encourage home-working practices that reduce energy use. See below for ideas to reduce energy usage at home.
- Minimise paper consumption by defaulting to digital solutions; where printing is essential, use recycled or FSC-certified materials.
- Recycle office and electronic waste responsibly, and work only with licensed providers for safe disposal where additional disposal is required.
- Where older technologies are being disposed of, we will try to use a solution which donates the item or seeks for it to be reused.
- Use environmentally friendly cleaning and maintenance products in all workplaces.
4.4 Responsible Travel
- Replace business travel with video or tele-conferencing where possible.
- When travel is unavoidable, follow good sustainable travel practices, such as encouraging use of public transport, carpooling, walking and cycling.
4.5 Sustainable Procurement
- Prioritise working with suppliers who demonstrate robust environmental and ethical standards (e.g. B Corp, Fair Trade, Energy Star, Green Seal).
- Favour local and diverse suppliers, especially those within 50 miles of our bases of operations.
- Avoid sourcing from organisations that do not pay UK tax or show poor environmental accountability.
4.6 Culture and Engagement
- Engage employees in implementing environmentally friendly practices both at home and at work.
- Provide training and awareness on environmental responsibility.
- Encourage and support colleagues to contribute ideas for reducing our environmental impact.
- Work with clients, candidates, and partners to promote sustainable recruitment and leadership practices.
5. Homeworking
As a flexible and hybrid organisation, Peridot Partners recognises that many colleagues work from home regularly. We encourage employees to adopt sustainable practices in their home offices, including:
- Paper use: Minimise printing, use recycled paper where needed, and recycle all wastepaper.
- Energy efficiency: Turn off lights and equipment when not in use; unplug chargers; adjust heating with energy efficiency in mind; and consider using a green energy supplier.
- Equipment and supplies: Before purchasing, consider whether renting or sharing is an option. Prioritise environmentally friendly, efficient, and durable products.
- Cleaning and waste: Use eco-friendly cleaning products, recycle household and electronic waste responsibly, and ensure safe disposal of e-waste.
- Culture and community: Involve family or housemates in sustainable practices, and support local suppliers where possible to reduce environmental impact and strengthen local communities.
By embedding sustainability in our homeworking practices, we extend our environmental commitments beyond our offices and into our daily lives.
6. Monitoring and Review
This policy will be reviewed annually by the Board, in line with our CSR Policy, Social Impact Report, and B-Corp commitments.
Progress and key metrics will be shared transparently with staff, clients, and stakeholders.
