1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer.

Prostate Cancer UK works to give every man the power to navigate it. Whether that’s helping men to understand risk, make the right choice about treatment or get the expertise they need to feel informed and in control.

They make every pound count. They’ve invested over £75 million into the best researchers in the world to unravel the complexity of prostate cancer, so men can receive precise and personalised care with the right treatments at the right time, for the best chance of living the full life they want.

As with all cancers, early diagnosis is crucial to saving lives. That’s why the charity is launching its first major appeal, aimed at securing c.£50M of funding to be invested into delivering a national screening programme and early diagnosis research.

The project.

Peridot was tasked with recruiting eight new roles that would provide vital new bandwidth and capacity to the fundraising team as they embark of this exciting new appeal.

The appointed candidates.

Head of Appeal – Sally Cooper 

Sally joined PCUK having recently delivered an interim assignment as Head of Philanthropy at the Alzheimer’s Society, where she led the Philanthropy Team, setting high standards, clear expectations and a culture that supports fundraising growth plans. With an earlier career at household name brands such as Unicef and The Children’s Society, Sally has worked with donors up to 7 figure level, and brings energy, enthusiasm and experience of supporting a national charity through change in their focus on philanthropy.

Senior Philanthropy Manager – Kathryn Miller 

Kathryn brings vast experience to the philanthropy team, having previously led trust and major donor income for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home as well as Bromley-by-Bow, where she worked with high-profile funders such as Garfield Weston Foundation, Sport England and People’s Postcode Lottery. She has secured muti-year funding and brings extensive leadership skills to support the team.

Senior Philanthropy Manager – Jennie Hall 

Jennie joined the Philanthropy team from Versus Arthritis, where she had been managing a portfolio of 70-100 major donors, working closely with trustees and senior volunteers to grow income. Prior to this, Jennie had been Development Lead at Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust, further expanding her experience in health and medical fundraising.

Philanthropy Manager – Ellie Starbuck 

Peridot was delighted to support the internal promotion of Ellie from her role as Senior Philanthropy Executive. Before joining PCUK, Ellie had gained invaluable experience in the philanthropy team at Moorfields Eye Charity.

Research and Insight Manager – James Barringer 

Bringing significant experience, James joined Prostate Cancer UK from Imperial College London, where he contributed to the due diligence process for the Advancement Division that raised c.£50m in the previous financial year. His earlier career had seen him gain further experience as top brands including Young Lives vs Cancer and The Royal Albert Hall. He is tasked with building a sector-leading prospect research function that will be pivotal to supporting on the appeal.

Senior Partnership Development Manager (New Business) – Andy Snowdon 

Keen to transfer his commercial expertise into the non-profit sector, Andy brings significant business development and relationship-building skills from a range of commercial businesses including Unisport Group, Sporting iD and Adidas Group, where he had built multi-million pipelines and driven growth in market share.

Senior Partnership Manager (Account Management) – Siobhan Ranns 

Siobhan joins Prostate Cancer UK from The Brain Tumour Charity, where she has been leading their high-profile £2m partnership with Wickes. She has significant experience delivering and developing national corporate fundraising budgets, strategy and ongoing campaigns.

Appeal Project Manager – Joe Peduzzi 

Joe had recently been employed as Head of Supporter Fundraising at Speech and Language UK. In his earlier career he had projected managed the Christmas Appeal for St Martin’s-in-the-Fields, raising £4.7m, leading on their full campaign strategy across multiple channels. He has a huge passion for the work of Prostate Cancer UK and is looking forward to furthering his experience in a national charity.

Simon Callaghan is the Director of Peridot Partners’ fundraising and marketing and communications team. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising’s Major Donor Special Interest Group, a group of volunteers who support major donor fundraisers in a range of different ways, including providing training bursaries for external courses, running events and connecting fundraisers with mentors from outside of their organisation who can help support their professional development.
