The Maggie Oliver Foundation (TMOF) exists to create a society where survivors and those at risk of childhood sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) are empowered to live fulfilled and successful lives. At its core, the Foundation believes that every survivor deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and as an equal and valued member of society.
Through its emotional support and advocacy services, TMOF supports adult survivors and their loved ones in transforming the pain of abuse into strength. TMOF helps people recognise their resilience, build confidence, develop healthy coping strategies, and embrace opportunities for the future.
Following a period of rapid growth and the successful delivery of its first five-year strategy, as demand for its services increased and public awareness of its work continued to grow, the charity had reached a crucial point in its journey.
To support this next chapter, they needed to strengthen both their leadership team and their governance. Following the departure of their Chief Executive, there was a clear need for someone to bring greater structure to the day-to-day running of the organisation.
Trustees and Board Advisors
The Foundation was looking to strengthen its governance by recruiting two new Trustees, aiming to bring fresh insight, lived and professional experience, and strategic challenge to help steer the organisation into its next chapter. The brief for the Trustee appointments focused on finding individuals who were deeply aligned with TMOF’s values and mission, while also bringing skills to complement the existing strengths of the Board. We were particularly seeking experience in:
- Governance and strategic development
- Communications and crisis management
Our search for new Trustees was extensive and targeted. We proactively reached out to over 190 individuals with relevant skills, experience, and alignment to TMOF’s values. Over 20 applications were received, and seven candidates were interviewed. Ultimately, the Foundation appointed three new Trustees and welcomed an additional Board Advisor.
Appointed Trustees:
- A senior governance expert with over 25 years’ experience in the non-profit sector, including senior roles such as Head of Governance, Risk and Compliance at the NSPCC. They bring a deep understanding of organisational development, compliance and governance frameworks, and communications strategy.
- A leader in the domestic abuse and VAWG sector, with over a decade of experience in strategy, policy, and partnership development. A former board member of Justice Is Now and founding Director of an organisation working to prevent violence, abuse and harm across the UK. They offer strong insights into systems change and improving outcomes for survivors.
- A seasoned executive with nearly 30 years of cross-sector leadership experience. Currently Interim COO at an international impact advisory organisation and Deputy CEO at a sociological foundation, she brings expertise in financial management, fundraising, and strategic development and implementation.
Appointed Board Advisor:
- A senior executive in the global social impact sector, with expertise in digital innovation, crisis communications, and organisational change. Currently serving as an Executive Director at an international strategic communications firm, they offer high-level insight on reputation management, innovation and strategic campaigning.
Operations Manager Recruitment
TMOF sought to appoint a new Operations Manager to take forward the day-to-day management of the organisation, oversee its advocacy team, and work closely with Maggie Oliver and the Board of Trustees to embed strategic and operational discipline.
For the Operations Manager, the Foundation needed a hands-on, strategic operator with senior-level experience in the charity sector, someone who could translate ambition into action, strengthen internal systems, and support the organisation’s growth with compassion, professionalism, and clear operational leadership.
The recruitment campaign for the Operations Manager generated over 180 applications from a wide range of high-calibre candidates. Following a competitive and rigorous process, TMOF appointed a senior operational and service delivery leader with extensive experience across the non-profit, education, and youth sectors. They bring a strong track record of leading trauma-informed services and supporting women and girls facing multiple disadvantages. Their expertise spans operational delivery, strategic planning, safeguarding, risk and change management, and stakeholder engagement. In addition to operational leadership, they also bring governance and board-level experience as a charity trustee.
Through the Operations Manager recruitment, we were also successful in appointing a Senior Advocacy Caseworker through this process, following a strong field of candidates, bringing a blend of charitable and commercial experience and lived experience and a personal connection to communities and survivors supported by TMOF.
“I have been truly blown away by the commitment, reliability, responsiveness and attention to detail that we have received from Peridot. In all truth, I feel you’ve been far more than a recruitment service, and I now feel as though you can help guide and support us into the future as we begin to grow our team and resilience as we strive to reach the next level in our evolution. Thank you so much.”
