About Brooklands College

Brooklands College is a further education college in North Surrey based across three sites in Weybridge and Ashford in Surrey. We are proud to be one of Surrey’s largest providers of vocational training and further and higher education. Our course offering is diverse, and our teaching excels, the support we provide for our students is also excellent and is recognised as one of our key drivers for success.

Ofsted rated as ‘Good’ (December 2023), Brooklands College serves its community well. It has a good reputation for the successful delivery of motorsport, engineering and aerospace, together with a rich history and association with Brooklands racetrack and Vickers who started manufacturing aircraft on the site in 1915. In 1907, the Brooklands racetrack was opened by the Locke King family and marked a significant point in history as the first purpose-built motor racing circuit in the world.

The Locke King family, who lived in Brooklands House on the Weybridge college site, were pioneers of their time and their creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship shaped the spirit of the College. We are proud of our heritage and continue to instil this ethos into college life.

Brooklands College has campuses located close to the town centres of Weybridge and Ashford. The College primarily serves the Boroughs of Runnymede, Spelthorne and Elmbridge, although learners come to the College from across Surrey. Each campus location is distinctive in meeting the economic needs of its locality whilst responding to regional and local economic strategic priorities. The vast majority of learners attend the Weybridge campus, which currently has the capacity for c.2000 learners.

School links are good with the College experiencing increased demand for full-time 14-16 college places from mainstream schools and electively home-educated pupils, primarily in Construction, Hair and Beauty and Engineering.

The College has small provisions in higher education with some validated provisions for Motorsport Engineering with Oxford Brookes University and Early Years and Special Educational Needs with Kingston University.

The College has good financial health. Governors are currently overseeing a significant and exciting capital project which will result in the redevelopment of the Weybridge Campus into a state-of-the-art facility that will provide learners with the skills and qualifications for a bright and thriving future.

‘To be an inclusive centre for lifelong learning and to equip our learners with the professional behaviours, skills and values that they will need for their careers.’
