Trustee – Norton Housing & Support

We are looking for a Trustee with housing association or housing management experience to join the Board.

Develop our vision

Our Board of Trustees set the direction of Norton Housing and Support, oversee the finances and service delivery to make sure we keep on track. They are also involved in our big projects such as new developments and fundraising.

Our Trustees come from diverse backgrounds, and we want to continue to increase the diversity of the Board to ensure it reflects the diverse communities of Leicester and Leicestershire.

We welcome applications from people who have not been a Trustee before. Our Chair and CEO are happy to support and mentor you.

What it involves

The role of the Board is to be an effective, governing body which provides leadership and sets our strategic direction.

Board meetings take place 6 weekly either at our Leicester office or online, generally on a Thursday from 4:30 pm.

Trustee positions are voluntary and unremunerated but out-of-pocket expenses can be reimbursed.

Trustees should have:

  • Commitment to the mission and values of NH&S
  • Understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
  • An ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • An ability to think creatively and strategically
  • An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties and responsibilities of Trustees
  • The time to commit to being a Trustee

Norton Housing & Support has over 35 years’ experience of providing support and accommodation to adults with ongoing mental health needs, or from other disadvantaged groups.

We are proud of our track record in enabling vulnerable people to achieve their potential and live as independently as possible.

Norton Housing & Support enjoys an excellent reputation with commissioners, partners, and Service Users alike, with high satisfaction ratings year on year.

Service Users are at the heart of everything we do; we have a strong person-centred approach. We also encourage Service Users to get involved by providing feedback on service delivery and in developing plans for the future.

Our accommodation based and personal assistant support services provide:

  • Support to better manage mental health

  • Support to address financial issues, develop budgeting skills and maximise benefit entitlement
  • Support to build confidence and self-esteem
  • Support to develop social networks and friendships
  • Support to address social exclusion
  • Support to better manage any physical health problems
