About the role of Trustee

Our learners are at the heart of what we do, and we strive to provide the best education for all at Bradford Academy. It is of principal importance that our governors (non-executive directors) understand and embody our passion for providing our learners and their families with the best care and education.

As we continue this transformative journey, we are now actively seeking a Finance Professional Trustee to play a pivotal role in shaping the financial performance of the Trust. This is a unique opportunity for an individual with a passion for education and a strong financial background to contribute to our mission of providing exceptional learning experiences.

We are seeking a Finance Professional to join our Trustee board at Bradford Academy. The appointed candidate will have a focus on providing positive scrutiny, challenge, and support and work with us to continue to enhance our already excellent financial performance at the trust. Working closely with the leadership team, you will contribute valuable insights and strategic oversight to ensure the effective use of resources.

We aim to set examples that inspire others by fostering care and understanding. Since our establishment in 2007, we’ve been dedicated to transforming the life chances of our learners, providing high-quality education from age two to nineteen, rooted in our commitment to hard work, commitment, and passion.

Who we are looking for

A qualified finance professional with a strong track record of financial management.

Commitment to our mission of delivering high-quality education and improving outcomes for all students.

Strategic thinking and the ability to challenge and support the trust in achieving its financial objectives.

Previous experience in a governance or trustee role would be advantageous but not essential.

Candidates will need to be prepared to commit to eight Trust Board meetings per academic year. In addition to these, you will be expected to join at least one sub-committee per academic year and will have the opportunity to be involved in various other key events, such as parents’ evenings, school fetes and fundraising events.

We became an all-through in 2010 as a result of our success in the secondary phase. We believe that achieving qualifications is essential, but that education is more than just the experience in the classroom. Our schools


Bradford Academy Primary welcomes students from the age of two to eleven from a wide range of backgrounds. We were set up in 2010 and are now established as a vibrant, happy and successful school.


Bradford Academy Secondary welcomes students from the age of 11 to 16 from a wide range of backgrounds. Offering a broad, balanced and holistic experience, we pride ourselves in taking learning beyond the classroom.


Bradford Academy Post-16 offers a range of vocational courses for students from the age of 16 to 19. With high-quality CEIAG from the start, our students go on to a variety of destinations both in the city and further afield.

Our work in the community was recognised in 2019 when we received a TES award for Community and Collaboration. We continue to work closely with our families to ensure that support is provided to supportive and challenging relationships.

We are an Ofsted “Good” school. This was recognised in both February 2013 and December 2017. As an all-through school, this shows that all aspects of our provision from 2-year-olds through to post-16 are consistently good. We are recognised for the quality of our provision not only by Ofsted but by other agencies. We were awarded the Platinum level Professional Development Quality Mark from University College London, which recognises the quality of training our staff receive.

  • Step-free access to the building, all key meeting rooms and bathrooms, and an accessible workstation.
  • Accessibility dogs are welcome.
