About the role

Stoke on Trent College, FE recruitment

Salary:  £500 per day
Location:  Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire

The appointment of an Interim Director of Transformation & Change comes at a pivotal time for us, having recently launched a new strategy and announced a new organisational structure. In order for us to be agile in the future, we need to create capacity to respond to policy changes more swiftly and have the ability to invest in new curriculum based on local and regional skills needs.

Forming part of our Executive Board, the Interim Director will lead on the implementation of the college’s strategic plan 2018-21, and drive culture change and improvement through and in partnership with the leadership team.

Reporting regularly to the Board, the post-holder will inspire creativity amongst the leadership team, enabling operational delivery of the strategic plan alongside sharing our vision to ensure ‘our learners will have the confidence and skills  to make choices for a lifetime of fulfilment’ and embedding our mission throughout the entire staff and student community.

Who we're looking for

FE Colleges, education recruitment for Stoke on Trent College

We require an experienced strategic planner who has operated at a senior level, either as a consultant or as an executive. You will have experience of being the driving force behind culture change programmes and supporting the development of visionary operational plans through a coaching style of leadership; as comfortable in both the board room – presenting reports and updates – as you are in the staff room – getting to know our employees and ‘under the skin’ of our college.

Whilst we don’t need you to have worked in the further education sector previously, having alignment to our vision, mission and values is essential – as is your ability to work with our people to make our strategy central to everyone’s work here. You’ll quickly grasp where we need to be and support our leaders to develop their plans through creative thinking to ensure our objectives become a reality.

Dear Candidate,

Denise Brown, FE recruitment

Thank you for your interest in the role of Director of Transformation and Change with Stoke on Trent College.

This role represents an exciting opportunity for a senior change and transformation professional to contribute to the education and skills needs of the communities of Stoke and the surrounding areas.

Over the past two years, we have been pursuing a highly focused agenda to build on our strengths whilst delivering organisational resilience for the future. As the City’s only general further education college specialising in professional and technical education and training, we have a clear purpose to ensure our learners have the confidence and skills to make choices for a lifetime of fulfilment. To achieve our mission, we promise our learners that we will help them to access and achieve their aspirations and we promise local and regional employers that we will work with them to develop a highly trained and reliable workforce. As an essential part of the fabric of Stoke on Trent, we promise stakeholders that we will play an active role in the development of a vibrant local economy.

Like all further education colleges, we are working hard to strengthen our financial and operational performance in order to ensure that we can support and resource an extensive programme of professional and technical education. In order to do this, we need our Director of Transformation and Change to lead on the formulation and delivery of transformation strategies and plans to build our sustainable future and business success.

In this role, you will be part of a small executive leadership team and will be line managed by the Chief Executive on a day-to-day basis. However, you will also be accountable to the governing body of Stoke on Trent College, who have developed the strategic vision and mission.

We very much hope you find this post to be of interest and we look forward to receiving your application in due course.

Yours faithfully,

Denise Brown
Principal and Chief Executive
