Who we are.

mothers2mothers (m2m) is a primary healthcare organisation providing healthcare to families who need it most, delivered by women in their own communities who know them best.

Across sub-Saharan Africa, since 2001, m2m has reached 15 million people, kept 2 million women and children alive, employed over 12,000 women and has virtually eliminated mother-to-child transmission of HIV.

About the role.

As Senior Philanthropy Lead, you will execute m2m’s global approach by engaging high-value individuals to cultivate a diverse portfolio of strategic partners and funders aligned with m2m’s 2022-2026 Strategic Plan.

You will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new opportunities to generate new business, including through prospect research and donor referrals — and nurturing existing high-value donor relationships.

Additionally, you will develop and grow a portfolio of existing donor relationships, optimising these to their full potential.

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, you will collaborate with the philanthropy team, and m2m’s communications, events, advocacy, programme and senior leadership teams.

As part of a global organisation, you will work closely with m2m’s international teams, largely in Africa and the US, to create greater cohesion and shape giving opportunities for major donors.

The role is hybrid in nature, and you will be attending regular in-person meetings with donors as required. Therefore, you will require an element of flexibility to meet with donors as and when needed, depending on donor location and availability.

Who we are looking for.

We seek an experienced high-value fundraiser with a background in, and dedication to, international development, to drive the growth of our high-net-worth-individual supporters.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Proven track record of successfully securing 6 and 7-figure gifts from philanthropists and family foundations, including through face-to-face negotiation.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in developing and managing high-value relationships with leading executives and their families, utilising excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Proven track record in identifying and developing new business with aligned philanthropists, using activity targets to drive performance.
  • Experience in strategic planning, developing and monitoring annual plans, income and expenditure budgets.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in international development and/or public health sectors and major giving trends.
