The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity is delivering an ambitious strategy that aims to significantly grow our income. Along with funding an existing world-class programme of research, treatment and care, we have also launched a £70 million capital appeal to build The Oak Cancer Centre that will provide radical new solutions for the research and treatment of cancer.
To help us achieve our goals, we are now looking for a new Philanthropy Manager to join our high performing team. The role will contribute to both our ongoing hospital priority projects and the capital appeal. As Philanthropy Manager you will support the management of the Capital Appeal Board members and the recruitment of new Senior Volunteers and Ambassadors in order to identify and initiate relationships with prospective individual donors to raise multi-million pound gifts. You will have a proven ability and passion for relationship management and donor acquisition, driving the delivery of our acquisition, donor centric strategy for individual and corporate philanthropy.

You’ll also need to be capable of effectively communicating complex funding proposals to a range of donors. Over the last three years, the charity has delivered an ambitious strategy to significantly grow our income. Alongside funding an existing world-class programme of research, treatment and care, we launched a new £70m capital appeal to build The Oak Cancer Centre – a clinical care and research centre to provide radical new solutions for the research and treatment of cancer.
We are now further expanding our Philanthropy Team by recruiting a Philanthropy Manager to contribute to our £70m appeal whilst also working with major donors to raise vital funds to support our hospital. This includes funding research, care programmes and multi-million pound equipment that will keep The Royal Marsden at the forefront of patient care, early diagnosis and innovative treatments.
Our Philanthropy Manager will play a key role in raising money for The Royal Marsden, helping us fund our vital work and deliver the largest fundraising appeal in the charity’s history. As Philanthropy Manager, you will support the management of Capital Appeal Board members and the recruitment of new Senior Volunteers and Ambassadors to identify and initiate relationships with prospective donors to raise five, six and seven figure gifts. You will also help develop new fundraising programmes to fund our wider hospital priorities. We are looking for an individual with a proven ability and passion for relationship management and donor acquisition, driving the delivery of our acquisition, donor-centric strategy for individual and corporate philanthropy.
We are a high performing team with huge ambition, and we are looking for an outstanding relationship fundraiser to complement our existing team. The Philanthropy Manager will be working with very high profile donors, so you will need first class stewardship skills and an ability to flourish in a demanding but enjoyable environment. You will be given autonomy to take ownership for work, with huge support from me and the rest of our senior management.
