This is a pivotal role within a newly established income stream, where a skilled fundraiser will build high value fundraising for The Air Ambulance Service, working closely with a team to build, develop, and monitor a pipeline of prospects for high value gifts.

Who we are.

The Air Ambulance Service (TAAS) provides two very important services. The first is Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) working across the five counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland providing rapid and life-saving care.

Second, but equally as important, The Children’s Air Ambulance (TCAA) is a life-saving transfer service for critically ill babies and children which operates nationally. When a child is too sick to travel, we can fly medical teams and bespoke equipment to them from across the UK, turning their local hospital into a specialist centre. The TCAA operate the only helicopter in the UK with an onboard incubator, so this is truly a vital service for premature babies and their families.

Neither of these essential services receive government funding so their continued existence relies entirely on fundraising.

About the role.

TAAS has a newly created income stream and now seeks a Prospect Researcher to play a pivotal role in its success. You will work across the TAAS’s fundraising to identify high-value targets whose interests or philanthropic giving are aligned with TAAS and its mission.

You will take responsibility for developing and maintaining a prospect pipeline that is robust and well-maintained, ensuring the success of this new income stream.

Your meticulous attention to detail and research skills will ensure no opportunity is missed and will equip major donor fundraisers with everything they need to help your team reach its income target and help TAAS save even more lives.

Who we are looking for.

We are seeking an analytical researcher with experience in identifying high-value individuals with alignment to TAAS’s mission and the ability to make substantial contributions.

Suitable candidates will be collaborative team players who can work effectively with colleagues across the fundraising team. You will be adaptable and flexible in responding to the changing needs of the organisation.

You will have a strong research background, with the ability to use data and insights to enable your team to seize the best opportunities and significantly increase income.

Benefits

  • Annual Leave Everyone is entitled to 25 days paid leave (FTE), inclusive of Christmas closure days (where applicable), plus 8 days bank holidays.
  • All Annual Leave – Length of Service Increments An increase to 28 days paid leave (FTE), inclusive of Christmas closure days (where applicable) after 2 years’ service. An increase to 30 days paid leave (FTE), inclusive of Christmas closure days (where applicable) after 5 years’ service.
  • Everyone is entitled to 1 day’s birthday leave a year to be taken within 7 days of their birthday. Your birthday does not need to fall on a normal working day to be eligible for birthday leave.
  • Blue Light Card Everyone (subject to Blue Light Card eligibility) can claim the cost of a Blue Light Card membership.
  • Buying & Selling Annual Leave – Everyone will be entitled to buy and sell up to 5 days of annual leave (FTE).
  • All Employee Assistant Programme This service is provided by PAM Assist and offers confidential support and assistance on a wide range of topics such as childcare, debt, disability or illness, elder care, bereavement, consumer rights or workplace pressure. It can be accessed 24 hours a day by telephone or online.
  • Eyecare Vouchers If you regularly use a computer for work, you can have a pre-paid eye test voucher every 2 years to use at Specsavers. A contribution may also be available towards the cost of prescription glasses for computer work at Specsavers.
  • Free Wills – The National Free Wills Network offers free Will writing services to charity supporters and workers. You can choose from a wide range of law firms up and down the country with a network of nearly 900 solicitors. Through this scheme you can have your will written or amended at no cost to you and The Air Ambulance Service will pay a discounted rate.
  • Life Assurance – All employees, subject to the insurance provider’s eligibility criteria, will be enrolled into the life assurance scheme after 2 years of service. In the event of their death, a payment of 2 times their basic salary will be paid to their nominated beneficiary. You are automatically enrolled after 2 years of service.
  • Pension – All eligible employees can join our pension plan. TAAS will contribute up to the equivalent of 8% of your basic salary, depending on your own level of contribution.
  • All Primary Carer Leave (Also referred to as maternity leave and adoption leave) Pregnant employees will be entitled to enhanced primary carer leave. Enhanced primary carer leave is 100% of the average week earnings for the first 12 weeks of leave. Followed by 50% of their average weekly earnings for 27 weeks.
  • Volunteer Days All employees are entitled to take up to 2 days of paid leave a year to volunteer for a Charity of their choice, including experiencing a different part of TAAS or supporting a TAAS event.

Since the Charity’s first operational flight in 2003, our dedicated crews have attended nearly 45,000 potentially life-saving missions.

Every day the Charity is tasked with a unique set of missions which we respond to with our fantastic services, all of which are funded entirely by voluntary donations, trading and fundraising activities we undertake. This ethos remains at our core; we are here to work alongside and help the NHS without using their available funds. The impact we make with our services is to keep people alive, keep families together, let children grow into adults and enable the NHS to carry out more work than they would have been able to without our support.

We also impact our communities by creating jobs, taking actions to improve the environment, bringing people together as volunteers and creating worthwhile training and experience opportunities.

The Charity leads the way in the delivery of critical care and inter-hospital transfers, but the hard work is never over. To provide essential support to the NHS and our communities, the organisation is currently reviewing its strategy and recreating for the next six years. This will be designed to continually advance response and critical care services to patients.
