NEBOSH is a commercial organisation with a charitable purpose, firmly focussed on saving lives, protecting people from injury and illness, and supporting sustainability worldwide. We achieve this through our range of qualifications, which are designed to give learners the skills and knowledge they need to make a difference. We are a UK-recognised awarding body with Approved Awarding Body Status from the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).

We employ over 140 people who are the key to our success. We also work with an international network of Learning Partners in over 148 countries who play a pivotal role delivering the high-quality education and qualifications to support our learners on their way to success.

To deliver our mission, we have created a Human Resources Development Framework to enable us to be an effective, efficient, and a sustainable organisation. Our HR strategy works alongside our culture transformation programme and will continue to drive and evolve through the duration of our five-year strategic plan.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a highly experienced HR professional, to lead our HR team as People Director. Reporting to our Corporate Services Director you will lead the implementation of a range of HR projects critical to our People Strategy 2021-2026 and to play a critical role in the delivery of project activity associated with organisation and culture transformation. You will work across the organisation, so it is imperative that you have expertise in leadership and relationship management, as well as strong interpersonal skills.

You will bring expert knowledge of HR processes and project management disciplines and best practice, within a commercially-run organisation. You will need to be highly organised and collaborative with strong project management, senior leadership experience, and a track record of successful delivery which impacts on business growth and sustainability.

In November 2021, NEBOSH were delighted to win the Awarding Organisation of the Year at the annual FAB (Federation of Awarding Bodies) Awards to recognise their contribution to education and skills in the UK over the year. The Award was a great achievement and testament to Team NEBOSH for their achievements over the year including reduced environmental impact, creating new assessments, training Examiners on a new approach, developing additional educational opportunities and resources for learners and Learning Partners to impact on helping keep more people safe at work every day.

COVID-19

The health, safety and wellbeing of people during Covid-19 has highlighted the critical role played by health, safety and environmental professionals worldwide. During Covid-19 we did everything possible to adopt a ‘business as usual’ approach to provide support and advice to our Learning Partners, learners and stakeholders, as well as digitally transforming the way we deliver our products and services.

Despite the uncertainty over the last couple of years, NEBOSH’s ability to adapt quickly enabled us to maintain a financially healthy position. We stabilised our income and, as a result of cost reduction activities and more agile models of working we were able to outperform our previous financial year.

Our Future

Since 1979, NEBOSH has championed the improvement of health, safety, wellbeing and environmental management across the world. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieve, BUT we have our focus firmly set on the future as modern workplaces are changing.

In 2021-22 we embarked on a new, five-year strategic intent. Driven by our vision, mission and charitable purpose, we’ll invest in activities that continue to deliver demonstrable impact in the health and safety community. We have started an exciting and ambitious transformational plan to ensure we maintain our position to be the very best in everything that we do.
