  • Location: Home based with travel expected
  • Salary: £30,000 with an OTE of £42k and a travel allowance

ABE is a not-for-profit and awarding body existing to empower people to transform their lives and communities by gaining high-quality business, management, and entrepreneurial skills. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing, growing, and maintaining a client base for ABE products in the UK schools’ market, predominantly independent schools and multi-academy trusts.

As someone who has extensive experience in a sales role, ideally, with strong knowledge and understanding of the UK schools’ market, you will build client relationships, ensuring clients renew and grow their involvement with the exciting entrepreneurial programmes ABE offer to multi-academy trusts and independent schools across the UK.

The programmes ABE offer include their Kids MBA entrepreneurial programme where younger age groups learn future business skills through games and role play, including a Dragon’s Den style event. For older children there is the Kids SDG programme that is delivered to meet the 17 UN sustainable development goals and accumulates in pupils implementing a sustainable project in schools.

The flagship programmes ABE offer is the Global Impact Programme, a twinning initiative with schools based overseas.

The Business Development Manager will predominantly be a sales role, where you will use your commercial astuteness to develop a sales plan based on pre-agreed targets and expectations, initiate sales calls, and close deals through direct consultative selling, both face to face and via videoconferencing technology.

You will also work closely with the Head of Marketing to plan and analyse feedback from external communications as well as promote engagement in the Future Entrepreneur of the Year competition as well as attend in-person events and conferences to promote ABE’s schools offer.

Using your knowledge of the UK schools market you will build and maintain a strong network of useful contacts through your understanding of how programmes can be delivered in schools and how they can work in classroom settings.

As someone who has excellent communication skills and can build productive working relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally, you will also secure relationships with private companies, foundations, and donor organisations and support the Business Development team with the process of twinning UK schools with overseas schools.

If you are an energetic, enthusiastic, and ambitious individual who is results-focused and thrives in a target-driven environment, this is a role you will thrive in.

Not only will you have the opportunity to develop an exciting new area of a growing business, but also have a direct impact on the futures of young people in the UK and internationally, helping them learn business skills that will allow them to achieve their aspirations.
