About this role

KCLSU is a £7m student led charity that is here to make sure that every student at King’s has the best student experience possible. We provide a range of comprehensive commercial and charitable services to help our students reach their potential and make the most of their time at King’s so that they leave ready and able to shape the future.

This is an exciting time to join one of the largest Students’ Unions in the UK as a Director of Services within the Senior Leadership Team at KCLSU. The successful applicant will be working closely with the Chief Executive, Trustees and other members of the Senior Leadership Team to ensure effective performance and strategic development of the Students’ Union.

We have recently combined our student community engagement and commercial services directorates to create more engagement with students and provide a more consistent and inclusive range of services.

One-year Fixed Term Appointment

We would also like you to lead a complete review of the functions, and processes, identifying synergies within the teams, addressing any gaps or conflicting demands, to build a more collaborative working relationship that will deepen connections with our members.

It’s likely that you are (or have been) a senior leader leading a significant commercial portfolio in the not for profit sector. To be successful in this role, you will need to enjoy leading teams and able to bring people together to work more collaboratively. We would be interested to hear about your experience of improving staff engagement and embedding new values and behaviours, building consensus and creating shared ownership of change.

Run by students, for students

We’re here to make sure that every student at King’s has the best student experience possible. We’re run by students, for students. Our decisions, policies and what we do are decided by our 25,000 student members. They elect the Student Officers, Student Councillors and Student Reps they want representing them. As a democratic charity and membership organisation students lead us at every level.

As well as empowering our student members to share and use their voice, there’s loads of other ways they can get involved with their Students’ Union including:

  • Impartial and confidential support from our Advice Service;
  • Joining one or more of the 300+ student-led activity groups, societies and sports clubs;
  • Visiting a KCLSU Student Hub, available on every campus;
  • Socialising in our two Students’ Union bars and one club;
  • Making a difference through volunteering and fundraising;
  • Shaping their experience through Student Reps, Student Council and Student Officers;
  • Working for us as part of our Student Staff Team.
