mothers2mothers is looking for an Institutional Partnerships Manager, on a 12-month maternity cover contract, to deliver strategic partnerships with multilateral and bilateral institutions as well as large trusts & foundations.

mothers2mothers (m2m) trains and employs African women to deliver health, hope and an HIV-free future.

m2m is headquartered in Cape Town and is working across ten African countries. m2m’s mission has never been more relevant or important than it is today. m2m’s female frontline healthcare workers have been fighting an epidemic on the frontline for 20 years. They are uniquely placed to fight COVID-19 in Africa, currently providing a life-line to one million women and children. Since m2m began in 2001 we have:

  1. Created over 11,000 jobs for women living with HIV as frontline health workers
  2. Reached more than 13.5 million people in sub-Saharan with life-changing health services and
  3. Achieved virtual elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV amongst our clients for the past 7 years.

About the role

The Institutional Partnerships Manager (maternity cover) will join our growing Strategic Partnerships team. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Strategic Partnerships you will:

  • Play a key role in delivering on strategic partnerships for m2m with multilateral and bilateral institutions as well as large trusts & foundations.
  • Support and drive a culture of strategic engagement by optimising the capacity of leadership at global and local country levels to establish and deliver on strategic partnerships.
  • Play a leadership role in strategy development, and delivery of partnership opportunities across both financial and non-financial objectives in support of m2m’s global resource mobilisation strategy. Drive significant growth across each revenue stream by
    1. Optimising the existing institutional partnerships by managing a portfolio of high-profile relationships and partners and
    2. Generating new business opportunities, exploring new markets, partnerships and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Play a leadership role in strategy development, and delivery of partnership approaches and opportunities across both financial and non-financial objectives
  • Ensure optimal partnerships and partnership opportunities within the existing portfolio of partners
  • Manage a portfolio of high-level stakeholders, ensuring appropriate communications and engagement from the CEO, Directors and other key senior team members.
  • Deliver and successfully achieve annual restricted targets, as well as identifying exponential growth in restricted revenue globally
  • Identification of key geographic target markets beyond m2m’s existing markets i.e., Europe, US & South Africa
  • Ensure m2m is considering and proactively engaging with emerging trends across the development funding and partnership landscape
  • Provide leadership, advice and support on donor engagement and positioning to our country teams.
  • Support and deliver on our strategy for building partnerships and increasing funding from donors in country.
