Individual Giving and Legacy Manager Hospice UK

Hospice recruitment by Peridot

Hospice UK is looking for an ambitious Individual Giving and Legacy Manager to deliver and grow their supporter engagement programmes and to drive their exciting income generation strategy – individuals doing more.

  • Location: Hybrid working (office is based in London)
  • Salary: £42,000

Who we are

Hospice UK is the national charity for hospice care, supporting over 200 hospices in the UK. We believe that everyone matters throughout their life right up until they die, and that no one should die in avoidable pain or suffering.

Our vision is hospice care for every person in need.  We believe that everyone, no matter who they are, where they are or why they are ill, should receive the best possible care at the end of their life. No one should die in avoidable pain or suffering.

Our mission is to transform the way society cares for the dying and those around them. To empower individuals, communities and populations to embrace the ethos of hospice care and extend its breadth and reach to improve everyone’s experience of death, dying and bereavement.

We want to bring about the wide-reaching social and cultural transformation that is needed in how adults and children in the UK are cared for at the end of their lives, and we believe hospices are critical to achieving this. Collectively hospices in the UK care for around 200,000 people every year as well as families and carers – and we work closely with them to support their vital work, share best practice and to create a stronger national voice for hospice care.

Our ambitious strategy is the blueprint for how we can achieve the transformation that is needed and sets out the following four strategic goals:

  • Extend the reach and enable hospice quality care to be delivered in any setting.
  • Tackle inequality and widen access to hospice care.
  • Work with communities to build capacity and resilience to care for those at the end of their life.
  • Empower a strong dynamic and responsive hospice sector.

Our values: we aspire to be collaborative; compassionate; inclusive; innovative; and knowledgeable.

About the role

As Individual Giving and Legacy Manager, you will play an integral role in achieving our ambition to broaden our reach and deepen our impact by shaping and developing our fundraising activities. You will be responsible for a seven-figure income budget, generating income from individuals and driving the third pillar of our income generation strategy – individuals doing more.

As part of the Events and Supporter Engagement team and the wider Income Generation Directorate, you will develop and deliver Hospice UK’s supporter engagement programmes, ensuring our supporters are looked after. You will line manage and work hand-in-hand with the Supporter Engagement Officer, ensuring that we are retaining and maximising the potential from each of our supporters.

This role will span strategic planning and operational delivery, pivoting from working closely with the Head of Events and Supporter Engagement to identify new growth opportunities, to project management a DM appeal.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an ambitious self-starter ready to take on a position with huge potential across a large variety of fundraising areas.

Whilst the role is contractually based at our London location, the role will work to our hybrid model.

We believe that it’s important to let individuals work in a way that makes sense for them and we understand that everyone is different – some love being in the office whilst others are more home-based, and our teams are based in all corners of the country. We may ask you to be available at certain times to meet the needs of the business and to be physically in the office, however we will provide enough notice in these situations. For more information on our hybrid working arrangements, please download the job pack by visiting the ‘How to Apply’ tab at the top of this page.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking a motivated Individual Giving fundraiser who is confident in delivering a range of individual giving programmes and developing strategies. Essential criteria:

  • Identifying and successfully implementing proactive initiatives to grow and diversify income
  • Demonstrable experience in the coordination and delivery of multichannel individual giving strategies
  • Proven ability to write engaging copy for different audiences across varied communications channels

Strong project management skills, often completing multiple projects through to delivery.
