Victoria Primary School is seeking to appoint an exceptional Headteacher to lead and inspire our staff, students and local community. Our school provides a happy, rich and rewarding environment for children from a range of diverse communities and cultures where we encourage them to raise their aspirations, and learn the skills that will help them to lead successful lives. To be appointed as Headteacher at Victoria Primary School we need you to balance drive with empathy to lead the individual progression of all our pupils so that they achieve their true potential.

We hope to appoint a Headteacher who can bring experience in successful primary leadership with a proven track record of either raising attainment or sustaining good or outstanding achievement in a similar education setting. In keeping with the strong inclusive ethos of the school, there must be an understanding of the needs of children with additional and special education needs to facilitate an inclusive school approach. We would want the successful candidate to capitalise and celebrate the diversity and myriad of languages used by the children at Victoria.

You will be accountable for all aspects of safeguarding, including leading an established safeguarding team, liaising with outside agencies and support groups.

As Headteacher you will be representing the school to all stakeholders and prospective parents/carers. We, therefore, need you to be a natural and compelling communicator who is able to present confidently and professionally in a variety of media to a range of audiences. You will have experience of working in a school that offers the whole community:

  • A broad, ambitious and aspirational curriculum which fosters a desire to learn, the ability to think and work independently, and opportunities for all children to develop their full potential in line with their capabilities, whilst maintaining high standards and developing the skills required to be a life-long learner.
  • A structured pastoral and support system which guides and nurtures, promoting the personal development of everyone in the school.
  • Opportunities for each child to develop the skills to enable them to be an independent, resourceful and responsible member of society.
  • A range of extra-curricular activities with opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, enterprise, leadership and service to the wider community.
  • Close and honest communication with parents so that the school and family can work together to promote well-being and success.

Victoria Primary is a vibrant city school accommodating 345 full-time pupils and 26 part-time nursery pupils in The Meadows area of Nottingham. Our motto is ‘Work Hard, Be Kind’ and this tells you exactly what our school is about. Our pupils are here to become excellent learners and to grow into outstanding individuals. The entire staff team is committed to both high academic expectation and achievement whilst also being dedicated to the children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

About Victoria Primary School

Victoria Primary School is a mixed non-denominational two form entry foundation unit and primary school. Our inclusive school environment is one where harmonious teaching and learning can take place and where everyone is happy and able to succeed. The school opened in 2016, replacing Riverside Primary School, and achieved a ‘Good with Outstanding Leadership’ Ofsted Grading in 2019.

Our teachers are expert at delivering inspiring classroom experiences which engage our pupils and encourage a thirst and excitement for learning. We are proud of our staff who provide excellent pastoral care to ensure every child is supported to grow as confident, resilient and responsible young learners keen to access the next stage of their education.

Victoria Primary School is proud to be part of the Nova Education Trust (a cross-phase Multi-Academy Trust based across the East Midlands) delivering exceptional educational support with access to curriculum and pastoral groups, and support in areas such as safeguarding, Governance and other central service functions. The Trust is committed to the professional development of all its staff. Nova also run a successful School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme which links 23 schools together sharing effective practice and exploring new models for staff development. Nova recently appointed an exceptional leader, Ashfaq Rahman, as CEO of the Trust.
