ATHE are recruiting for a Head of Quality and Assessment, a high-profile senior management position with leadership responsibility for determining the standards and monitoring the quality of provision in centres.

  • Location: Norwich head office (other GB locations considered based on regular presence in Norwich on a fortnightly basis – c. 3-4 days per month)
  • Salary: c£50,000

About the Role

The Head of Quality and Assessment is a high-profile senior management position with leadership responsibility for determining the standards and monitoring the quality of provision in centres.

You will manage two Regional Standards Managers and a global team of External Quality Assurers, ensuring verification and moderation decisions are valid, practice remains consistent and ATHE continues to meet the relevant Conditions.

The role is highly collaborative working with colleagues across business development, customer service and information systems, and with the Head of Qualifications to ensure the validity of qualifications is maintained and the needs of learners, centres and stakeholders are met.

As a Senior Management Team member, the post holder will help to determine ATHE’s strategic direction and take on the responsibilities and role of Responsible Officer.

Who We Are Looking For

As the Head of Quality and Assessment, you will have previous senior management experience, as well as sound knowledge of the Conditions and regulatory requirements of awarding organisations to enable you to successfully fulfil the role of Responsible Officer for ATHE.

You will be able to demonstrate sound understanding and practical experience of teaching/training, assessment approaches and quality systems in a relevant educational context and have a comprehensive understanding of the UK vocational training and/or tertiary education sectors. Ideally you will also have an understanding of the education sector internationally.

This role will require you to be strategically astute in order to understand and contribute to ATHE’s vision and business plan as part of the Senior Management Team, working directly with the CEO and Board, whilst also remaining operationally hands on to effectively engage with the EQAs on the ground, providing guidance, direction and training based on your first-hand experience of assessment.
