ATHE, a global Ofqual regulated awarding organisation, is recruiting a Head of Qualifications to have overall leadership responsibility for the development, delivery and continuous improvement of a portfolio of high-quality qualifications.
The Head of Qualifications is a key position within ATHE’s Senior Leadership Team. The role has overall leadership responsibility for the development, delivery and continuous improvement of a portfolio of high-quality qualifications that meet ATHE’s strategic aims, customer and learner needs and regulatory requirements.
The role has the requirement and opportunity to shape ATHE’s Qualifications Development function in conjunction with the Board and CEO whilst also ensuring that Qualifications Development is aligned and co-ordinated with Business Development and Quality & Assessment activities.
Responsible for the strategic and operational development of a wide range of both bespoke and core qualifications ranging from Level 3 to Level 7, the role will conduct an in-depth review of the existing portfolio to ensure qualifications are fit for purpose, whilst also keeping up with the fast-paced development of new bespoke qualifications to meet clients’ needs.
You will ensure that the qualifications are to standard and progressive, plus liaise directly with stakeholders and manage their expectations, providing solution-focused approaches to their requests.
The role is fast-paced and will require you to be hands-on in the development process, however the organisation is investing in growth and you will shape the team to suit the needs of the department allowing you to focus more strategically on the long-term direction of the organisation and portfolio.
Although challenging, this role will offer the opportunity for creativity in order to improve areas around quality of processes, training and performance of associates, explore new market sectors such as creative industries and engineering, look at new ways to leverage relationships with sector specialists as well as expanding this network.
As part of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Qualifications will play a key part in directing ATHE based on government policy updates, market/industry wants and needs, competitor analysis and evolving teaching and learning styles.
As the Head of Qualifications, you will have extensive experience in developing vocational qualifications from Level 3 upwards. You will also have experience in providing strategic leadership in the development process, as well as experience in managing a team.
You will be up to date with the latest developments in UK education policy and have an excellent grasp of Ofqual and other regulatory requirements, especially in regards to the implications relating to qualification development.
You will have a sound understanding of a variety of assessment methodology in order to ensure assessment practises are able to demonstrate qualification outcomes.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will be able to advise on whole organisational strategy as well as oversee a departmental approach to existing portfolio review and maintenance and proactive new product development.
This role will require you to be creative and commercially astute in offering innovative approaches to enhance ATHE’s qualification portfolio, whilst also being strategically aware and analytical in order to understand the bigger picture and digest data and policy to contextualise this in a wider organisational scope.
A strong communicator and people person, you will work collaborative with a small internal team, wider associate network and a variety of UK and international stakeholders including private colleges and training providers, universities, accreditation bodies, employers and government agencies.
If you have experience of the international education sector then this would be advantageous, as would your experience of planning and delivering teaching/training at a relevant level.
