Who we are

We offer support for every child, parent, carer, sibling and grandparent, with our services including end-of-life care, therapies and short breaks amongst others.

We have 3 main sites, the first of which was created in Sittingbourne Kent. In 2004 we merged with James House, a charity established in East Sussex, and then in 2009, we were able to build and open a hospice in Eltham to serve the boroughs of Bexley, Bromley, Croydon, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark.

About the role

As Head of Lottery and Gaming, you will lead the Lottery Team to drive and deliver sustainable income growth, maximise opportunities through grassroots community engagement and ensure current members are expertly stewarded.

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising and Marketing, you will play an active role in the fundraising and marketing leadership team and will proactively work in partnership with senior managers and Trustees. The post holder will have full responsibility for the Lottery Team and will implement the Lottery and Gaming strategy to ensure sustainable membership and income growth.

You will identify and implement opportunities for digital and online membership routes and evaluate digital opportunities. Working closely with the marketing team you will help improve the website journey, and the creation of strong marketing plans that will support a growth in players and income.

The role requires regular travel across our operating region, therefore a full driving license and access to own vehicle for business use – or access to reliable transport arrangements – will be essential.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking a passionate fundraising leader, with experience in the society lottery sector to drive Demelza’s Lottery Strategy and ensure the compliance of the Demelza Lottery. You will lead the Lottery Team, including self-employed lottery canvassers, and support them in building excellent relationships with external agencies to provide a sufficient pipeline of leads.

Key specifications for this role:

  • Experience in achieving significant income targets.
  • Experience or understanding of the development of digital journeys.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading and continuously developing a large and dispersed team to achieve high standards of customer service.
  • Excellent relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Gambling Commission legislation surrounding the running of charity lotteries.
  • Ability to set direction through strategic planning and operational delivery.
  • Experience using a range of marketing mediums to drive sales and aid retention.
