Head of Grants & Foundations – Global Witness

Global Witness

In the face of climate change, misuse of power, and increasing disregard for human rights, our work has never been more urgent. Join Global Witness as a Head of Grants & Foundations to help us meet their ambitious fundraising target.

  • Location: 1 Mark Square, Hackney, London, EC2A 4EG
  • Salary: £52,022 (13-month maternity cover)

Global Witness are an international NGO established in 1993 who campaign to change the system by exposing the economic networks behind conflict, corruption & environmental abuse

Reporting to: Director of Development
Responsible for: Joint Management of Grants Team which includes Grants Manager (x2), Senior Grants Officer as direct line reports
Contract type: 13-month maternity cover
Salary: £52,022

We are currently partnering with them in their search for a Head of Grants & Foundations for a one-year contract.

Heading up a team of five, the role oversees their biggest source of income with £2.3m coming from statutory sources and £6.8m from T&F. Global Witness offers an intellectually stimulating working environment where people are empowered to take ownership but share a collaborative culture. The organisation is also set up for flexible/home based working.

It requires someone comfortable with very complex bids, ideally an understanding of DFID/EU bids and comfortable with pipeline management and budgeting. The candidate doesn’t necessarily have to come from a similar campaigning organisation but must be an experienced fundraiser and manager who has a demonstrated ability to build strong, high leverage relationships with governments, trusts and foundations.

The role will work closely with the Director of Development who can share a lot of the people management work freeing up the Head of Grants & Foundations to focus on the fundraising.
