Voices Foundation works alongside teachers and school communities to transform music education, supporting children’s wider skill development and wellbeing through accessible and inclusive singing programmes. We provide Continuing Professional Development and Learning for educators, inspiring content for parents and in-depth research and evaluation. Together, we can ensure that every child is able to find their voice through the power of singing.
The Voices Foundation (VF) was founded 26 years ago. Our founder, Suzi Digby OBE, was driven by the knowledge that music, and singing in particular, can have a transformative impact on children’s development, particularly those experiencing disadvantage. In order to reach as many children as possible the decision was taken to focus on the education system, working with and through the statutory obligation to teach music and the national curriculum framework.
Since our early days testing our approach in a small number of schools in London, VF has made enormous strides towards helping as many children as possible unlock their musical ability, develop core skills and improve their wellbeing. We now work with 25,000 children each year and more than 900 teachers, and we have ambitions to make an even greater impact for children.
We have an engaged and dynamic Board of Trustees and an experienced and passionate team. As we embark on our new three-year strategy, we are looking for a Head of Engagement to lead our fundraising, sales and communications to ensure we are able to reach our ambitious goals.
We have a strong base of Trust and Foundation funding and a loyal network of individual donors. We are looking for someone who can nurture and develop this base of support and develop major gift and corporate fundraising strategies in order to diversify and grow our income.
You will need to be able to build on our strong track record in school sales, implementing a strategy to overcome the challenges created by the Covid-19 pandemic in the short term and reach our ambitious goals for growth in the long term, and the capability to shape our communications strategy in collaboration with our Communications and Digital Officer, working closely with the team to deliver transformational growth in reach and engagement.
You will need to be a confident team player with exceptional communication, line management, relationship management and workload management skills. You will need to have experience in managing budgets, contributing to organisational strategy and with an outstanding track record in delivering ambitious income targets.
To apply, please submit a CV, supporting statement and the equality and diversity monitoring form. The supporting statement should clearly outline your suitability against the essential criteria in the person specification with an explanation why the role is of interest and relevant to you.
