External Verifier RoSPA

Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) is the UK's leading family safety charity whose mission is to reduce serious accidental injuries through the exchange of life-enhancing skills & knowledge.

  • Location: Home based with travel across the South of England
  • Salary: £30,000 - £35,000

RoSPA Qualifications is a subsidiary of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, recognised in November 2015 by Ofqual, operating autonomously with its own independent governing body, management structure and governance arrangements.

RoSPA Qualifications has been committed to designing, developing and certificating vocational qualifications from Levels 1 to 4, within the areas of road, workplace, leisure and home safety. They offer a range of qualifications including regulated, customised and international awards, that aim to meet the needs of learners and employers, and their assessments aim to replicate the working environment as closely as possible and have been designed to be transferable across many industries and economic sectors.

The External Verifier post will support standardisation and quality assurance processes in the external verification of these assessments on behalf of RoSPA Qualifications in the field of health and safety.

As someone who has previous EV experience, you will cover the South of England, working from home with a couple of days a month on the road visiting centres, attending events or meeting at their Midlands based head office.

Due to the explosive growth RoSPA Qualifications are currently experiencing, this is an exciting time to join the team and take the lead in the approval and external verification processes for new and existing centres.

Reporting to the Responsible Officer you will provide advice and support to centres and their staff, verify the judgement of assessors in centres by sampling assessments, sampling evidence of performance and assessment decisions by looking at assessment records, and assist in the investigation of complaints and allegations of malpractice and maladministration.

You will have knowledge of awarding organisation regulation, policy and practice, including qualification frameworks and an understanding of current developments in vocational education, training and assessment.

As an External Verifier, you will be able to monitor compliance, identify issues and provide advice on resolving them efficiently. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively write detailed reports that require close attention to detail to ensure accuracy and be able to establish and maintain strong working relationships with a range of people internally and externally.

You will use your excellent project management skills to play a key role in stopping the needless loss and devastation that accidents cause to individuals, families, communities, businesses, and society as a whole. You will be adept at ensuring the delivery of qualifications within approved centres, meeting the needs of the centre and the learners, with a great impact on improving workforce competencies in the UK and around the world.

Closing date: 9am, Monday 6th December 2021
