YGAM supports young and vulnerable people to make informed decisions and understand the consequences around gambling and gaming. Our social purpose is to inform, educate, safeguard and build digital resilience. To continue our successful impact in schools, we are seeking an exceptional educationalist specialising in pre-16 education.
The work of YGAM is led by an agile and talented Board of Trustees who give their time voluntarily and a dedicated Senior Leadership Team. We need your insight into education and schools as we deliver the National Young Persons’ Gambling Harm Prevention Programme, in a unique collaboration with GamCare, supported by members of the Betting & Gaming Council.
As our pre-16 specialist, you will be joining our Board of Trustees at an important time in the charity’s history as we are about to start work to develop our third strategy, spanning 2022 – 2025. The moment for YGAM is now. We are seeking somebody who has a good knowledge of pre-16 education to ensure our new strategy is comprehensive, future proof and provides a blueprint for other jurisdictions globally.
Make no mistake, we want YGAM to become a global charity brand. We are seeking somebody with ambition, who is values driven and who not only wants to make a difference for YGAM, but somebody who understands how we might achieve that.

The last six years have been an incredibly humbling time for everybody on the YGAM journey. We are one of the most authentic, yet fun charities you will ever come across. We rollup our sleeves, work hard and pack a huge punch above our weight especially around impact, relevance and reach. Yet we want to do so much more.
The work of YGAM is led by an agile and talented Board of Trustees who give their time voluntary and a dedicated Senior Leadership Team. We need your insight and help to enable YGAM to influence multi-academy trusts, Department for Education, and Local Authorities as we deliver the National Young Persons Gambling Harm Prevention Programme, in a unique collaboration with GamCare, supported by members of the Betting & Gaming Council.
As an expert you’ll be joining our Board of Trustees at an important time in the charity’s history as we are about to start work to develop our third strategy, spanning 2022-25. The moment for YGAM is now and we are specifically seeking somebody who has a good knowledge of pre-16 education to ensure our new strategy is both comprehensive and future proof and provides a blueprint for other jurisdictions globally. Make no mistake, we do want YGAM to become a global charity brand and so we are seeking somebody with ambition, who is values driven and who not only wants to make a difference for YGAM, but somebody who understands how we might achieve that.
In addition, as a member of the YGAM Board of Trustees, you’ll take on collective fiduciary and legal responsibilities meaning you will be bound both legally and ethically to act in YGAM’s best interests, safeguard our assets, manage risk and ensure we deliver our charitable objects. Additionally, you will offer a combination of scrutiny and support to your fellow trustees, the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team. This is a voluntary role which we will anticipate will require hours equivalent to two days per month spread between attending board meetings and supporting our social purpose more generally.
Currently all our meetings take place over Zoom, but we hope to return to in—person meetings in the New Year and for these travel expenses will be paid. Finally, we are looking for a commitment of an initial three-year term.
Good luck with your application and thank you for your interest in our work.
Chair of Board of Trustees
