Group Director of Information & Registry Services | Education Partnership North East

Education Partnership North East are seeking an experienced strategic leader and MIS professional to join their senior leadership team. This role will oversee a high-quality ‘student data journey’ with robust compliance across all funding, curriculum planning, student records, and data systems for one of the largest college groups in the country.

About the role

As Group Director of Information and Registry Services you will be part of the senior leadership team, reporting directly to the Vice Principal – Student Services and Registry. The postholder will manage two direct reports – the Head of Student Registry and Compliance (responsible for curriculum planning, student enrolment, timetabling and registers, ILR, compliance and audit), and the Head of Systems Development and Reporting (responsible for College MIS development, business analytics, report writing and MIS helpdesk) – who head teams of twenty and five staff respectively, covering both customer experience, data management and systems development.

The postholder will be expected to develop a clear project plan for the ‘student data journey’, ensuring robust accuracy, compliance and accountability measures are in place, with updated procedures, across all data management systems, including student recruitment and enrolment, curriculum planning and funding.

As the senior leader with oversight of a high-quality MI student journey, the postholder will be responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of effective management information systems and to oversee the lifecycle management of the College’s MIS, to align with College-wide business objectives and support the delivery of high-quality services to all stakeholders.

The Group Director will ensure that the Systems Development team have the right technical skills and training to create, implement and manage group-wide data systems.

As well as playing a key strategic role in group-wide curriculum planning and financial management, you will manage the College’s data relationships with funding bodies and be accountable for audit compliance with the ESFA and OfS, including the management and submission of all data returns.

You will need to lead group-wide transformational change of key management and data systems, including the delivery of interconnected services across the College (e.g. finance, payroll and HR systems), as well as supporting curriculum areas to manage and process their own data using systems such as Forecast.

You will attend monthly senior leadership meetings and will present updates on key strategic areas, including curriculum planning, funding and enrolment.

The post is currently based at Washington campus (Sunderland College), but with the option for both flexible office location and working patterns for the preferred candidate.

Who we're looking for

EPNE are seeking a sector-based ‘information and data guru’, with proven success as a leader and strategic expert in Further Education business intelligence, funding and compliance.

You should be educated to a minimum of degree level, with at least three years’ experience in a Head of Department role and a demonstrable record of managing a successful MIS, or data, or registry team. You should be able to clearly demonstrate your impact in a leadership role in one or more of the following areas: cost-savings, improving business efficiencies, and group wide systems development.

It is essential that candidates have a proven record of successfully planning, managing and monitoring management information and you should have a demonstratable track record of implementing successful change in systems and teams.

It would be advantageous if you have relevant experience in the education and training sector of strategic data and curriculum planning processes, and knowledge of relevant Further and Higher Education funding streams and regulatory audit requirements.

You will have the expertise to provide interconnectivity across complex group-wide information systems, including student records (Pro Solution), Finance, HR, Pro-Monitor and 4cast.
