About the role

The Director of Management Information Services (MIS) will play a critical role as part of the leadership team within Coventry College, and reports directly to the Vice Principal Finance and Resources.

Applying previous experience of leading MIS colleagues in the FE sector, the Director will manage the MIS, exams and report teams, with senior leadership responsibility for the effective management of all College management information systems, examination services, compliance and central reporting functions.  The postholder will take the lead on managing key data relationships with funding bodies (ESFA, WMCA, OFS etc) and be accountable for audit compliance, ensuring that data produced is accurate, fully compliant and ensures maximum funding impact.

Our Director of MIS will ensure the smooth flow of information through the College, to maximise income and financial efficiency.

The Director of MIS will play a key role in curriculum planning, resource management, and managing relationships with MIS suppliers, as well as ensuring that business critical systems are maintained and upgraded across the organisation.  Recognising the strategic importance of timely and accurate information production, especially during a period of organisational transformation, the Director of MIS must ensure that the College produces robust, accurate and relevant data to support quality and financial performance objectives, and planning.

The postholder will be required to gain a full understanding of the data culture across the organisation and take a cross-college, business partner approach to working with curriculum and central teams, sharing expertise to create a culture of data ownership and accountability that recognises the impact on financial performance to improve outcomes. The delivery of a customer-focused service to students and staff will be at the centre of the College’s MIS transformation.

Who we're looking for

Coventry College is seeking a successful leader of management information systems and services, who can contribute to the development of an integrated MIS strategy and translate this into effective operational plans across their teams and in collaboration with key stakeholders across the organisation. You must bring recent and relevant experience of report writing, analysis of complex data and a track record of MIS delivery improvements from the Further Education and Training sector.  As a Management Information specialist, you will demonstrate a breadth of understanding of the funding regimes relevant to Further Education and your ability to manage key external relationships with funding bodies as the accountable senior leader.

With a professional commitment to ensuring management systems and processes that produce quality data, candidates will be expected to demonstrate their track record on delivering transformation across MIS to improve service delivery and as a motivational leader able to develop teams to perform to a high standard.

As a senior leader, you will be expected to lead on major programmes of change, including the upgrade of systems, build effective relationships across stakeholder groups, and influence positive change within the organisation around the delivery and use of data and reports in critical curriculum, financial and business planning.

An understanding of the trends and developments in the post-16 education and training sector is essential.

The College delivers a broad curriculum to over 10,000 learners across a range of exciting and dynamic subject areas from entry level to higher education.
