Director of Income Generation and Marketing Haven House Children’s Hospice

Join Haven House Children’s Hospice as the new Director of Income Generation and Marketing and help ensure seriously ill babies and children receive specialist care whenever and wherever families need it, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

  • Location: 3 days per week at Haven House Children's Hospice, Woodford, London, IG8 9LB
  • Salary: £90,000 - £95,000
  • Closing date: 9 a.m. Monday 2nd November

Who we are

Haven House Children’s Hospice cares for seriously ill babies and children (up to the age of 18) by creating a loving, warm environment for them and their families during the toughest times.

No family should have to face alone the difficulties of looking after a child with a serious illness. Haven House provides round the clock care at our hospice, surrounded by beautiful grounds and woodland, in Woodford Green and through our outreach services in the home and local community.

We provide: day care, overnight stays, end of life care, bereavement support, as well as life enriching activities such as sensory play, music therapy and physiotherapy and support where and whenever our families need us.

Hospice care does not mean that a child is near the end of their life; we are here from the time a devastating diagnosis is made to help our families have choice, quality of life and to make the most of the precious time they have together.

About the role

The Director of Income Generation and Marketing (IGM) will lead Haven House’s income generation, retail and marketing functions to deliver sustainable growth in voluntary income and strengthen supporter relationships. The role will provide strategic and operational leadership to a directorate of more than 30 colleagues and four direct reports, ensuring strong delivery against income targets while building a high performing and collaborative culture.

Haven House currently generates around £4 million in voluntary income annually, with an ambition to grow this in the coming years, with significant opportunity available due to an expansion in geographic remit. The Director will play a central role in achieving this growth while ensuring the organisation continues to build long term supporter engagement and income sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Income Delivery and Growth

Lead the development and delivery of Haven House’s income generation strategy to achieve and exceed voluntary income targets. Ensure strong performance management across all income streams, including high value fundraising, public fundraising, retail and marketing. Maintain clear forecasting, monitoring and reporting systems to track progress against targets.

2. Strategic Planning and Delivery

Develop and deliver a clear, investable income generation strategy that supports Haven House’s broader organisational goals. Translate strategic priorities into annual operational plans with clear milestones, ownership and accountability.

3. Expansion Opportunity

Work closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to shape and deliver the fundraising strategy connected to the expansion opportunity. Build the pipeline, partnerships and funding opportunities while ensuring plans are realistic, deliverable and properly resourced

4. Leadership and Team Development

Lead, support and develop a team of more than 30 colleagues across income generation, retail and marketing, including four direct reports: Associate Director and Head of High Value, Head of Public Fundraising, Head of Retail and Head of Marketing. Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, learning and high performance.

5, Retail Growth

Provide leadership to Haven House’s retail operation, currently consisting of eight shops, ensuring strong commercial performance and exploring opportunities for growth in 2026/27 and 2027/28.

6. Supporter Experience and Marketing

Ensure Haven House delivers a compelling supporter experience through effective marketing, communications and donor stewardship. Build strong brand engagement and support the development of integrated fundraising and communications campaigns.

7. Governance and External Representation

Act as a senior organisational leader and member of the Senior Leadership Team. Build strong relationships with trustees, supporters, partners and key stakeholders, representing Haven House with credibility and professionalism.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking an accomplished and values led leader with a strong track record in fundraising, income generation or a related discipline. You will bring significant senior leadership experience and a clear ability to deliver sustainable income growth against ambitious targets. Comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, you will combine big picture thinking with the discipline to ensure plans translate into measurable results.

You will have experience leading multidisciplinary teams and developing senior leaders, creating a culture where people feel empowered, supported and accountable. Your leadership style will be collaborative and inclusive, enabling teams to thrive during periods of change and growth.

An excellent relationship builder, you will be confident engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including trustees, senior governance structures, partners and supporters. You will understand how to build trust, influence effectively and represent the organisation with credibility and warmth.

Strong financial awareness and commercial insight will enable you to identify opportunities, manage risk and maximise impact. Above all, you will bring a values led approach aligned with Haven House’s mission. Resilient, pragmatic and delivery focused, you will be motivated by the opportunity to lead a high performing team and help secure the long term future of an organisation, making a profound difference to children and families.
