The Royal College of Emergency Medicine is recruiting for an Interim Director of Education for a minimum of 6 months to lead, advise and guide the Education Directorate with budget responsibility in excess of £3m

  • Location: Office based 2 days a week (London) and Homebased
  • Salary: £93,700

The Royal College of Emergency Medicine, who work to ensure high quality care for patients by setting and monitoring standards of care in emergency departments, as well as providing expert guidance and advice on policy to relevant bodies on matters relating to Emergency Medicine are recruiting for an Interim Director of Education for a minimum 6 month period.

Leading a team of circa 35 people, you will be directly responsible and accountable for the leadership and management of the day to day operational, financial and performance of the Education Directorate, ensuring the directorate works effectively and cohesively whilst also professionally challenging and mentoring your direct reports

This will include two of the largest college teams, Examinations and Training, so you will need to have proven expertise in assessment methodology and experience of implementing assessment structures, as well as specific evidence of delivering educational programmes to trained professionals as well as trainees.

Having operated at senior level previously, this role will report directly to the CEO and work closely with specialist Committees, Councils, and regulators to advise, guide, and support on key educational processes such as standards setting, quality assurance, curriculum reviews, credentialing, training, events, and assessment.

You will need to have extensive experience in mitigating and managing risk through devising effective strategies and having a solutions-focused approach.

As an Interim Director of Education, you will need to have extensive experience in leading operational delivery and process improvement, the ability to produce briefing papers on highly complex issues in simple, jargon free terms for busy professional people, and proven experience of staff management.
