The European Climate Foundation (ECF) is seeking a talented Development Writer to join their growing dynamic Strategic Partnerships team. We are looking for an experienced individual to support the team’s fundraising and stewardship efforts, primarily through developing compelling funding proposals, reports, and other content for funding partners and prospects.

  • Location: Can be based in London, Paris, Berlin or The Hague, Brussels
  • Salary: from £55,000 plus 30 days leave, 5% employer contribution plus 3% employee contribution

About the European Climate Foundation

The European Climate Foundation (ECF), founded in 2008, is a major philanthropic initiative working to help tackle climate change by fostering the development of a net-zero emission society at the national, European and global level.

We support over 700 partner organisations to carry out activities that drive urgent and ambitious policy in support of the objectives of the Paris Agreement, contribute to the public debate on climate action and help deliver a socially responsible transition to a net-zero economy and sustainable society in Europe and around the world.

About the role

The Strategic Partnerships team at the European Climate Foundation manages relationships with funding partners. The team is seeking an experienced Development Writer to support its fundraising and stewardship efforts, primarily by developing funding proposals, written reports and other content for partners and prospects. It will involve the production of a broad range of collateral including concept notes, newsletters and cases for support. This position will serve as both editor and principal writer. The Development Writer will work very closely with the team’s directors and stewardship manager and will cooperate with a wide range of internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

The Development Writer will:

  • Contribute to the stewardship of existing funders by preparing funding proposals and reports, with a particular focus on complex, cross-cutting funding and annual reporting where there is a need to collate information from multiple sources into a compelling narrative.
  • Contribute to development of new funding partnerships by preparing concept notes and introductory materials for new audiences.
  • Edit and customize written materials produced by Strategic Partnerships team colleagues.
  • Create compelling and timely content about ECF’s work and impact for our funding partners including a regular newsletter incorporating updates from teams across the organisation.
  • Compile data and produce presentation decks for presentations, meetings, board reports.
  • Create a database of materials, in particular of ECF internal documents, to be used as a basis for producing fundraising documents.
