LTE Group

About the role

LTE08309 - Estates - City Campus Manchester Sept 2022

LTE Group is one of the largest providers of education in the UK, and our provision spans a wide and diverse portfolio of education and training.

Given the scope and scale of our delivery, outstanding governance is vital if we are to continue delivering high-quality provision which leads to excellent outcomes for our learners, whilst continuing to remain compliant.

To ensure that our governance functions remain effective as we continue our organisational journey, we seek to appoint a new Deputy Company Secretary to our Governance & Legal team who can support us in further developing our processes — ensuring our governance cycles run smoothly and ultimately ensure we continue to offer an outstanding governance service across our Group.

This role, offered on a fixed term for 18 months on a 0.8 FTE contract, will bring further essential capacity to our Governance & Legal team.

The successful candidate, answering directly to our Company Secretary & General Counsel, Lorna Lloyd-Williams, will have responsibility for leading the smooth running of our governance operations across the Group.

We believe this to be a varied role that will see the postholder fulfil a range of key functions.

From an operational perspective, you will take a lead in servicing the needs of the many diverse and varied committees across our Group.

You will offer support with the administrative functions of our team, such as the collation of registers of interests. Furthermore, you will help us to confidently improve our related structures, systems, and processes, whilst supporting the wider development and effectiveness of our team.

Once embedded into the Group and with a confident understanding of the cycle and scale of our business, we expect our Deputy Company Secretary will be able to help steer our governance function towards a more strategic and advisory position within the wider Group.

Who we are looking for

Candidates for this role will need to have a strong understanding of governance so that advice and related decisions can be effectively and efficiently provided.

We will especially be welcoming applications from those candidates who can demonstrate an appreciation for governance practices within organisations that have similar scales and complexities to that of LTE Group.

Whilst we would ideally like candidates to have experience in supporting governance within an education setting, what is more important to us is your ability to quickly grasp the legislative requirements expected of us and the broad regulatory environments in which our group operates. As such, we will also welcome applications from candidates with a demonstrably successful commercial governance background.

As we constantly strive to improve our governance processes and related activity, we seek to appoint a candidate with experience in not just servicing the secretariat needs of non-executive boards but facilitating the wider strategic development of these related processes too. Given the multi-faceted nature of this role, the appointed candidate will need to be someone who can multi-task and work at pace whilst having the ability to support and develop their peers.

Perhaps most importantly of all, it is vital that you have a strong desire to work for a forward-thinking education and skills provider that enhances the life chances of thousands of people each year, not just locally, but nationally.

If you have such experience and you would be interested in providing support and professional services to our Board and related committees, we would like to hear from you.

Peridot Partners and LTE Group are, together, committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and our client expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references before any final offer can be made.
