Chief Fundraising Officer Scouts

Scouts are recruiting for a new Chief Fundraising Officer to lead their fundraising team and develop Scouts’ strategic fundraising activities.

  • Location: Hybrid working, with travel to Chingford, London, E4 7QW ideally 1 day a week
  • Salary: £80,000

Core purpose

This is a critical role at Scouts that oversees the annual contribution to the charity’s income and its strategic, long-term development through a range of fundraising activities and sources.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Fundraising, as a key member of Scouts’ leadership team, you will share the collective responsibility to deliver the organisation’s strategy through to 2025 which is underpinned by the need for sustainable fundraising.

The Chief Fundraising Officer will provide leadership to the development of Scouts’ strategic fundraising activities, recognising shared priorities, and meet stretching financial targets for each portfolio area comprising corporate partnerships, grants, donor acquisition, alumni engagement and legacy fundraising. The role will provide leadership to steer the development of future funding portfolio areas/streams, to build a pipeline for giving on a growing and sustainable basis.

Key accountabilities

  • Create and deliver a single fundraising strategy that: spans each portfolio area/stream with defined stretch targets; outlines resourcing model(s) covering short, medium and long term capacity building; and defines the approach to the stewardship of each portfolio area/stream recognising where there are synergies.
  • Steer the development of existing portfolio areas/streams and lead on the development of new opportunities to sustainably grow income to meet agreed targets.
  • Develop and maintain income and expenditure tracking and evaluation systems to define and monitor return-on-investment for individual portfolio areas/streams.
  • Steer the development of effective supporter journeys for the development of relationships and retention, underpinned by joined-up customer relationship management tool(s) and insight.
  • Ensure delivery of an engagement plan for alumni, donors, prospective legators and other stakeholders, providing a compelling series of opportunities across portfolio areas/streams.
  • Develop and maintain senior relationships with key philanthropists and prospective donors.
  • Work closely with the Chief Programme Officer and their team to produce effective, high-quality proposals across the full range of fundraising activities that leverage Scouts theory of change to be mutually beneficial for Scouts and donors/funders/partners.

We are looking for

A senior leader with a strong track record of successfully driving teams to realise the ambitions of revenue-generating activities across a mix of corporate partnerships, grants, donor acquisition, alumni engagement and legacy fundraising, demonstrating outstanding communications and strategic planning skills.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and a team player, able to take the lead in managing external relationships, while providing briefings and support to senior colleagues on others.
