Introduction from Anne Godfrey, CEO of GS1 UK

Hello and welcome to GS1 UK.

Thanks for your interest in the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

This is a pivotal role for me, as CEO, for my leadership team and for our Supervisory Board. We need a CFO with the gravitas to generate trust, the financial acumen to help us use our reserves wisely and the spirit of collaboration that is at the heart of our culture.

We are in the final year of our current three-year strategy, ‘growth with purpose’, which saw us drive membership growth, support the digital transformation of our members and increase our voice and visibility with legislators and regulators.

As we finalise the strategy for the next three years, we are looking to invest our profit for the benefit of the wider membership. I need

a CFO who will play a central role in the delivery of our strategy and annual operating plans. They will support the business to create evidence-based business cases, with clear deliverables, that support our strategic objectives.

I am looking for an outstanding senior leader with a desire to drive positive change. These attributes, along with strong financial acumen, commercial insights and experience of IS leadership, will enable you to support, guide and shape our future investments and initiatives as we create a platform for the future that helps UK PLC thrive and keeps consumers informed and protected.

Best wishes,

Anne Godfrey
CEO GS1 UK

About GS1 UK

GS1 UK is one of 116 neutral and independent GS1 organisations operating worldwide.

Whether online, in store or in a hospital, the common language of GS1 global standards is helping our community of over 59,000 organisations to uniquely identify, describe and track anything, creating greater trust in data for everyone.

From product barcodes to patient wristbands, we harness the power of GS1 standards to transform the way people work and live.

Our standards are rooted in the need to be able to identify, capture and share information about every product, person and place. In this way we can have an impact on industry through driving efficiency in the supply chain, and in wider society, through things such as patient safety programmes and deposit return schemes.

We are about to enter the third year of our three-year strategic plan, which sees us putting people at the heart of everything we do. We have created a strategy that partners internal and external expertise to address the needs of our growing membership and ensures we are industry relevant.

We are a not-for-profit business, but commercial acumen is essential. Our standards evolve constantly to face future challenges such as sustainability, traceability and an ever more digital world. As we support industry and government to solve challenges they can’t solve in isolation, we will demonstrate that GS1 UK has a significant role to play in informing and protecting people.
