About the role

London based charity Three Cs is a dynamic, values driven, person centred organisation with a turnover of £6m+. We believe everyone is unique and can contribute as an equal citizen.

Three Cs supports people with learning disabilities, autism and/or mental health challenges to live ordinary lives by deciding how they want to have control, choice and contribute to society as equal citizens. Our vision is about all of us living life to the full and being valued by our communities. We empower our staff and volunteers to support people to exercise their rights and responsibilities, discover and grow their strengths/interests, and realise their dreams and ambitions.

We have a strong reputation for authenticity and innovation. We are looking for an inspirational leader to take us on the next stage of our exciting journey. You will be a strategic leader in a people-focused organisation, and you will be passionate about championing the safeguarding and involvement of the people we support throughout the organisation, and in society. You will be a great listener and a skilled influencer with the ability to quickly identify opportunities, overcome barriers and challenge the status quo to achieve our mission.

You will have a track record of working with a wide range of stakeholders, developing effective networks and partnerships: with commissioners, funders, campaigners and beyond. Commercial and financial acumen will be essential. The capability to apply these with an attitude to risk management that gives momentum to retaining and developing new business is a key component. We are looking for a Chief Executive who has led in environments that need to adapt quickly to change while balancing compassion with operational effectiveness.

This is an exciting role with real scope and challenge. It requires a compelling, resilient and committed leader with a values base that aligns with our own. Dear Applicant,

It’s wonderful that you are interested in becoming the next Chief Executive Officer of Three Cs. Thank you.

We are a happy organisational community that sees the ability in everyone; our staff, volunteers, people we support and the world around us. We thrive in challenging situations and celebrate our successes together. We have a reputation for being people centred and a trustworthy organisation that delivers on its promises. Living our values is at the centre of who we are, and it applies the same to the Chair, CEO, staff and the people we support.

Our CQC ratings are good, we achieved a silver IIP rating (with several areas of outstanding) and even in a challenging climate, we not only retain but win new contracts. The most recent of these contracts being in excess of £1m value from Hackney.

Our organisation is stable, and we are not easily phased in even the toughest times because we want the best outcomes for everyone that’s a part of Three Cs. We are incredibly proud of the work that we do and the people who support us to do it. We have a strong Executive Team, an expert and committed board, and a formidable team of staff and volunteers.

I have been a trustee at Three Cs for six years and the Chair for three of those years. The board recently voted for my tenure to be extended by a further three years. In my full-time job, I work for one of the world’s largest charitable foundations that’s dedicated to improving human health. Each of our trustees has a similar story to tell and that helps to further strengthen the contribution we make to striving for delivering on Three Cs vision.

Jo Clare, our current CEO, is leaving this year having dedicated 12 years of her career to Three Cs. Jo has been a dynamic force and a significant part of our brand. She has cared deeply about her colleagues and the people we support. Even in choosing the timing of her departure, Jo has been considerate in ensuring that she steps away at a time when the organisation is attractive to candidates. We will miss Jo and at the same time, we are excited about the next chapter of our story. We are ready for that and are open to the new possibilities that the next CEO brings.

I hope you like what you hear and see about Three Cs. If you decide to progress your application, we look forward to learning more about you during the recruitment process. Whatever the outcome, we wish you every success in all you go on to do and thank you once again for your interest in joining Three Cs.

Anusha Everson
Chair of the Board of Trustees

About Three Cs

Our vision is all of us living life to the full and valued by our communities.

We believe everyone is unique and can contribute as an equal citizen.

Our job is to support people to exercise their rights and responsibilities, to discover and develop their strengths and interests, and realise their dreams and ambitions.

Our Mission

Three Cs stands for ‘Control and Choice in the Community’ for people with learning disabilities, autism and/or mental health challenges. We support people to have control over and choice about their lives and to contribute to the community as equal citizens.

Our Model and Our Values

We provide support for living in Lewisham, Southwark, Greenwich, Newham, Redbridge and Hackney. We do this through Community Support, Supported Living, and Social Inclusion and Day Services. We deliver services commissioned by local authorities or Clinical Commissioning Groups, or bought directly by individuals with a personal budget, through direct payments or funded personally. Our approach is influenced by the social model of disability and the recovery model of mental health.

Our Values

We expect staff, volunteers and Trustees to be HAPPI in their work for Three Cs. That means:

  • Honest
  • Accountable
  • Professional
  • Person-Centred
  • Inclusive

Our Approach

Our approach is influenced by the social model of disability and the recovery model of mental health.

We support people to live active, ordinary lives and contribute to the community as equal citizens. We focus on people’s strengths and interests to build confidence, skills and independence. We promote social inclusion, including social activities, paid jobs and volunteering. We make sure the person we are supporting is at the centre of decisions and plans and has as much control over and choice about their lives as possible.

Five Strategic Commitments

Our five commitments guide our day-to-day work and the objectives that we set for ourselves in the Strategy, and in the Annual Plan and Service Plans which help us deliver it.

Our five commitments are:

  1. Wellbeing and safeguarding as paramount.
  2. Person-centred action and customer involvement.
  3. Social Inclusion for all.
  4. Maximising independence and control (through rights, responsibilities, resources, techniques and technologies).
  5. Partnership with families, friends, neighbours, professionals, commissioners and other organisations.

Two Strategic Priorities

Our priorities reflect the business and practice environment in which Three Cs operates. They help us focus on what we need to do to meet the needs and aspirations of our beneficiaries, to deliver our vision and mission with integrity and to a high standard, and to achieve financial sustainability.

Our two strategic priorities are:

Priority 1 (P1) Consolidate quality and safety of support

  • P1a: improve practice, systems, processes and governance for quality assurance and compliance (wellbeing and safeguarding).
  • P1b: embed systems and processes for delivering measurable increases in independence, choice and control (maximising independence).
  • P1c: develop self-advocacy, equal citizenship and social, educational, economic and digital inclusion (social inclusion).

Priority 2 (P2) Achieve long term sustainability

  • P2a:  increase profitability of services.
  • P2b: deliver efficiencies in direct costs and central overheads.
  • P2c:  generate income for all unfunded activities.
