  • act in the role of ambassador for the college, working with local and national stakeholders to develop relationships and build a better future.

Who we are looking for:

Recognising the ambitious vision and strategy, we are seeking to engage a strong strategic leader from the local area to support the Board and the college in this journey. You will bring a passion for success, and recognition of the value of further and higher education in society.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to join an ambitious and committed non-executive board, and genuinely have an impact on the future success of the College and its students. Working with the Board and the Senior Leadership team you will help build on the forward-looking vision and strategy, ensuring the college continues to make a demonstrable and positive contribution to its communities.

The ideal candidate will need to bring previous Chair or Committee Chair experience, along with a track record of success in their own area of expertise.

Our mission is to  deliver the best technical and professional education in the area.  Working closely with local employers and businesses  we are an innovative College looking to meet the needs and requirements of our future population.

Delivering ambitious capital projects to develop our campuses to create leading edge technology and facilities to provide for T-levels has become ‘the norm’ and we have more projects in the pipeline. Our 2021-22 planned Centre of Excellence in Environmental Technologies will cost in the region of £1.2million and will create theory and ‘real world’ practical spaces.

As a national pilot for the governments new ‘Strategic Development Fund’ we are working closely with Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and a range of other local Colleges and institutions to develop long term educational and skill priorities for the Solent Area.

Its an exciting future with lots of hard work ahead! – as part of this ambitious journey, we are seeking our next Corporation Chair, an exceptional individual with the intellectual capacity, commercial acumen and strategic expertise to act as a critical friend and support us in a non- executive capacity to drive forward our ambitions.

At a time when higher education and the world are facing a period of unprecedented change, the role of Chair is critical to guiding our future success, helping us to see challenges as opportunities and to meet those challenges confidently and with agility.

First-rate governance is essential, and the Chair will play a crucial role in the future development of the College, providing  direction and leadership to the Corporation (the College’s board of directors/trustees), promoting the highest standards of corporate governance, and supporting and advising the Principal/CEO and the Senior Leadership Team to deliver the College’s strategic objectives.

We seek candidates with proven experience as a non-executive board member who will bring high levels of personal and professional credibility and integrity. Experience of chairing a senior board or committee, and prior experience of higher education is welcome but not essential.  With a record of encouraging bold thinking and guiding strategic decision making, you will have an open, transparent and non-hierarchical approach. Above all, we are seeking an individual who is committed to the College’s values, aims and objectives.

If you share our passion and have the skills and qualities we are seeking, we would be delighted to hear from you. Fareham College is wholly committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and we are keen to involve individuals from all backgrounds and communities who have appropriate experience in the private, public, or voluntary sectors.

Yours sincerely,

Andrew Kaye         Kevin Briscoe
