Welcome from the Chair, Nick Baveystock

Dear Candidate,

I am delighted that you are interested in the role of Non-Executive Director of MKC Training Services Ltd (MKC Training).

Background

MKC Training is a wholly owned subsidiary of MidKent College, established in 2008 as part of an innovative public, private partnership with the Ministry of Defence. MKC Training is an outstanding expert in the design and delivery of innovative teaching, learning, assessment and training. Supporting employers, training providers and awarding organisations to provide a stimulating environment to help individuals and organisations achieve their goals.

Over the last 12 years MKC Training has developed a deep subject specialism and knowledge across construction, engineering and the associated professional skills. This specialist expertise, experience and capability has been underpinned by our work with the Royal School of Military Engineering (RSME) based in Chatham. Working as part of the Holdfast Training Services (HTS) consortium in a 30-year Public Private Partnership (PPP) designing, managing, delivering and assessing a wide range of high-quality artisan, technical and professional training for military engineers.

We are at an exciting time: MKC Training has now reached the point where it is looking to grow business outside the RSME and is considering new opportunities to diversify both income streams and training audiences.

We intend to grow based upon our skills, expertise and track record. Our culture of partnership, providing what a customer needs, along with strong commercial acumen, and a background in training provide us with opportunities to work with multinational companies.

We have a commercially focussed Board with significant defence and training expertise. We are looking to strengthen the Board’s expertise to cover core areas of financial oversight, planning and forecasting. An understanding of both public and private sector accounting procedures is a key attribute and will be fundamental to the Company’s continued success.

I look forward to your application.
