Betknowmore UK seek a Chair with entrepreneurial capabilities and previous board experience, a senior finance professional in a not-for-profit organisation as Treasurer and a Trustee to support their ambition.
Betknowmore UK works tirelessly to reduce the impact of gambling harm by empowering individuals and communities through the provision of support and training services, developed and delivered by those with gambling ‘lived experience’.
Betknowmore UK is a non-profit, social enterprise founded in 2013 by Frankie Graham after his own successful recovery from a lifelong gambling addiction.
Frankie founded this unique organisation to empower individuals to live the life they want to live, free from the harm that gambling can cause.
Gambling-related harm can impact on mental, emotional and physical wellbeing, cause breakdown in personal and social relationships and trigger behaviour that the gambler may describe as ‘out of character’.
These harms are felt not just by the gambler, but also family, friends, employers and local communities.
Betknowmore UK has developed and established gambling support and training services, working with a range of stakeholders and community partners.
The organisation has developed a reputation of addressing the presence of gambling related harm with innovative and co-produced services, combining ‘lived experience’ with evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
We are setting up a new charity to host community, lived experience and peer support activities. We have ambitious plans to grow our organisation, increase scale and support more people. Achieved by continuing to innovate and deliver services through partnership and collaboration, but always putting our beneficiaries and customers at the heart of everything we do.
We seek a Chair, Treasurer and Trustee to support our ambition.
We require a Chair who understands our organisation’s role in society, who can get the best out of Board Members and the executive team, and who has a leadership style which is both enabling and inclusive. Working with a small team, the Chair will drive the next strategy to build Betknowmore’s profile, presence and reach so it may continue to expand and develop its work sustainably and impactfully. The Chair is likely to bring experience of growing a small business or a start-up and will have both entrepreneurial capabilities and previous Board experience.
The Treasurer is likely to be a senior finance professional in a not-for-profit organisation bringing governance experience. Experience of NHS and local government commissioning/contracting is desirable.
The Board meets in Central London four times a year and there are two strategy development meetings. We would expect Board Members to commit to at least one day a month.
Through joining the charity board of Betknowmore UK, you can build an organisation that has passion and is highly motivated to empower individuals and communities, work that truly ‘makes a difference’.
