About London Business School

As a diverse and vibrant community we challenge the status quo, question industry norms and free up people to define their own success.

London Business School (LBS) is a place where curious thinkers are unleashed and encouraged to experiment. Where future business leaders are exposed to countless perspectives and learn how to think, not what to think. And where minds are truly brought to life, so they can have a remarkable impact on the world.

LBS is one of the world’s elite business schools. We shape business practice and transform careers across the globe. Our academic strength drives original and provocative business thinking, empowering our people to challenge conventional wisdom in a truly unique academic environment.

Giving to London Business School

At LBS is powered by dynamic leadership and collaborative learning, we encourage a diversity of perspectives, ambitions and business paths to address the complex challenges of tomorrow.

Philanthropy will play a vital role in fuelling this evolution by allowing us to be innovative in how we draw in exceptional minds to the School and in the facilities, skills and experiences we provide them with when they get here.

How does LBS have an impact?

By empowering individuals…

Our gifted students, and the change-makers of tomorrow, come to us from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences – the diversity of our global community is a unique and acclaimed benefit of studying at LBS.

LBS creates an environment in which curious minds connect and collide. Students learn not only from our world-leading faculty, but from a varied and talented group of peers. Our students benefit from exposure to multi-cultural perspectives, and a curriculum which places original-thinking and teaching students how to think – not what to think – at its core. This powerful combination drives transformative personal growth, and equips our students with the personal attributes and connections, as well as the skills, knowledge and experiences to thrive in their future careers and to have a profound impact on global business and societal challenges.

To drive global change…

Commitment to having a positive and long-lasting effect on business and society resonates throughout the LBS community. The form it takes is vast and diverse. Our impact ranges from students working with micro-entrepreneurs in Johannesburg to address the challenges facing their business, to faculty investigating the impact of landmine clearance and tackling boardroom diversity, and alumni improving quality of life and driving social change for women in India.

Impact in Action – Cleaning up our oceans

How four LBS graduates are using skills, knowledge and connections acquired at the School to help reduce the eight million tonnes of plastic pouring into our oceans each year.

Nick Doman (MiM2018) met Will Pearson (MiM2018), Michelle Wiles (MBA2019) and Mauricio Coindreau (MBA2019) at the London Business School Launchpad – A programme set up to allow students to develop their entrepreneurial skills while studying.

Together, Nick, Will, Michelle and Mauricio co-founded and launched Ocean Bottle – a reusable water bottle which funds the collection of ocean-bound plastic in impoverished coastal communities around the world. Ocean Bottle is having a profound global impact, with the sale of just one Bottle funding the collection of 1,000 items of plastic.

London Business School was a major source of support for these talented entrepreneurs, helping them establish their company and contributing to its success. The LBS Launchpad brought the team together and worked with them to refine their first pitch. The LBS Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation sponsored the team on an expedition to Brazil to film their launch video. And, the LBS Incubator provided them with office space, mentoring, corporate partners and connections to help get the business off the ground.

Speaking about his decision to study the Masters in Management at LBS, Nick Doman says:

“It gave me a way to meet like-minded people. I’ve learned everything from accounting and marketing to strategy and market research. It gave me a foundation in everything I needed to know to start a business. If I hadn’t gone to LBS, I wouldn’t have met Will and the other co-founders. We would have been starting a business from scratch, but London Business School gave us a leg up.”

To achieve a more sustainable future…

We are proud of what we have achieved in our short, 55 year, history. As we look forward to the next decade, our ambitions are even greater. We want to evolve from being one of a number of influential business schools to become the world leader and an incubator for innovation and thought-leadership. We want to inspire more of the brightest minds of the future, maximising our impact on these individuals and, ultimately, on global challenges.

Why give to London Business School?

Philanthropy has already had a transformational effect on our School. It has allowed us to unlock the potential of numerous thought-leaders and innovative thinkers. It has helped us to provide thousands of our students with scholarships, enabling us to attract exceptional talent to the School. Philanthropy has also allowed us to rescue and renovate an iconic London building, transforming it into the Sammy Ofer Centre; a state-of-the-art educational hub for our students and an impressive landmark location for the School.

Innovation is synonymous with ongoing development and progression. In the changing landscape of education, innovation is constantly required to ensure we continue to provide a cutting-edge and outstanding education to the change-makers of tomorrow.

Philanthropy will fuel innovation in support of the School’s vision, with the ultimate goal of securing our position as a world-leading business school by inspiring more of the brightest minds of the future, and driving remarkable impact on businesses and societies across the globe.
