The Royal Foundation is establishing a new programmatic unit within its central Partnerships Team, to focus on securing large-scale partnerships across the private and philanthropic sectors. This senior role will lead the development of a long-term, cross-organisational strategy and proposition for the Foundation’s interaction with businesses in the UK and globally, whilst also establishing a range of game-changing private sector partnerships that drive social impact across our programmes.

  • Location: Hybrid, with travel to Goodge Street, London
  • Salary: £65,000 - £70,000

About the role.

Over the past year, The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales has spearheaded several private sector initiatives that have put business at the centre of solutions to tackle some of society’s greatest challenges, driving the Foundation’s mission to create a healthier planet. This has included the launch of the Business Taskforce for Early Childhood and the development of a group of ‘Activators’ for the Homewards programme.

This new role will look to take this initial work to an exciting next level, defining how The Royal Foundation can maximise its ambition to put a healthy society at the heart of the ESG agenda, whilst building a network of exceptional business partners to deliver impact across its portfolio of programmes.

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Located in the central Partnerships Team, reporting to the Director of Partnerships with line management of a new Senior Manager, Business Partnerships.
  • Leading, overseeing and helping to implement a private sector strategy across The Royal Foundation, that sees businesses support the Foundation and leverages major investment from (in-kind and finance) directly to beneficiaries and projects across its portfolio of programmes.
  • Oversight of the strategy for and delivery of business partnerships at a programme level, with an initial priority focus on the Homewards’ Activators and the Business Taskforce for Early Childhood.
  • Working closely with programme teams to design new private sector products and projects that unite efforts across The Royal Foundation’s programme portfolio, with a particular focus on businesses’ efforts to deliver against the ‘social’ in ESG or on social impact within their CSR initiatives.
  • Accountable for a strategy for the stewardship and relationship management of The Royal Foundation’s top 50 business partners across multiple programme interactions, stakeholders and platforms.
  • Working closely with members of the wider Partnerships Team to maximise the potential of businesses linked to our major philanthropic donors – whilst supporting the stewardship of any business-related fundraising partnerships.
  • Playing a key role across The Royal Foundation in the development of future programmes with business engagement at their core.

Who we are looking for.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing private sector partnerships that deliver social impact, through either (i) working within a leading business in a corporate responsibility or purpose role or (ii) having worked for a charity, NGO or foundation on innovative corporate partnerships.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Strong understanding of the role of business, ESG and social impact – in particular emerging trends, innovation and best practice in this space.
  • Direct experience of working with or for FTSE 100 companies, in particular in leveraging large-scale, in-kind or financial resources to deliver change.
  • Evidence of designing and delivering social impact initiatives, working in collaboration between business, third sector and public audiences to deliver powerful results.
  • A track record of bringing together coalitions or complex groups of stakeholders to work towards shared goals and impact.
  • Strong relationship management skills with experience in stewarding large numbers of business partnerships at a senior level.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and experience in presenting to high-profile individuals and teams, including C-Suite executives.
  • Demonstrable ability to negotiate with and influence stakeholders to achieve change and impact.
  • Ability to navigate a range of social issues and understand complex solutions to address them.
