NUSA are seeking an inspirational Assistant Head Teacher - Teaching and Learning to support the Head and the Deputy Head of School in strategically leading NUSA to develop a culture of high aspirations and excellence for all of our staff and students. The Assistant Head Teacher will be responsible for training NUSA staff to deliver effective lessons and promoting the active involvement of students in their own learning. This will include school target setting for individuals and groups of students for regular review.
You will oversee the development of a robust assessment framework and will monitor and evaluate classroom practice. As an experienced practitioner you will provide guidance and support for colleagues in improving their classroom practice and will promote the use of ICT to enhance and extend students’ learning. The Assistant Head Teacher will model and support strategies to promote high standards of behaviour and respect for value of learning. You will set a culture of high expectations and encourage collaboration from staff and students on raising achievement in the school.
We are specifically seeking candidates with a track record in securing the highest standards of teaching and learning in a school setting. You will have the ability to play a leading role in the school improvement planning process and to identify key areas of strength and weakness in the school. As our Assistant Head Teacher, you will be a visible leader around the site overseeing the operation of duty teams and attending extra-curricular events. You will be expected to understand the importance of accountability and to support the governing body and staff in meeting their responsibilities to account for the performance of the school.
