The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland (CGIUKI) is seeking an experienced Assessment Developer to join their Education team at a pivotal point in the organisation’s evolution. This newly created role offers the opportunity to shape the future of assessment across an established portfolio of professional qualifications whilst contributing to the development of a new qualification programme.
Working at the heart of the Institute’s education and assessment function, you will lead the development, review and quality assurance of assessments, ensuring they remain valid, reliable, fair and reflective of current professional practice. You will work closely with subject matter experts, committees and internal stakeholders to develop high-quality assessments that support learner success and maintain confidence in the Institute’s qualifications.

About the role
This role offers the opportunity to influence both current and future assessment provision. As Assessment Developer, you will lead on the design, review and quality assurance of assessments across the qualification portfolio, ensuring assessments align with recognised principles of good assessment practice, including validity, reliability, accessibility and consistency.
You will work closely with subject matter experts to develop high-quality assessment materials, support governance and quality assurance processes and use assessment data and stakeholder feedback to drive continuous improvement. Alongside managing assessment development activity, you will help ensure assessments remain relevant to the needs of learners, employers and the wider governance profession.
A key aspect of the role will be contributing to the development of the Institute’s future qualification offer. With a new qualification programme currently being developed, this role provides a unique opportunity to help shape assessment methodologies, influence qualification design and contribute to the future direction of professional education within the Institute.
Who we are looking for
We are seeking an assessment professional with significant experience in assessment design, development and quality assurance within an awarding organisation, professional body, higher education institution or similar environment. You will have a thorough understanding of assessment principles and experience developing assessments that are robust, fair and fit for purpose.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working with a range of stakeholders, including subject matter experts, committees and colleagues from across an organisation. You will have the confidence to challenge constructively, influence decision-making and support others in producing high-quality assessment content.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who combines technical assessment expertise with curiosity, innovation and a commitment to continuous improvement.
