Clear Voice is an award-winning social enterprise owned by the national charity Migrant Help, which supports refugees, asylum seekers, and survivors of modern slavery. It provides professional interpreting and translation services to charities, public services, and businesses across the UK and all profits are reinvested into Migrant Help.
Clear Voice has ambitious growth plans, aiming to double revenue over the next three years while remaining commercially best in class and socially impactful. Its technology-enabled services and expanding client base position the organisation as a leader in ethical language services.
Context.
The brief came at a pivotal moment as Clear Voice aimed to scale its operations and diversify revenue. The Board recognised the need for additional expertise to help guide its commercial growth and reinforce its social mission. Introducing two new Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) was essential to broaden the commercial skillset on their Board and ensure the organisation could achieve its ambitions.
The new NEDs needed to bring experience in marketing, brand, digital innovation, SaaS, and customer engagement; these areas are critical for driving revenue and developing their point of difference. Just as importantly, they had to demonstrate a strong commitment to Clear Voice’s purpose, balancing commercial ambition with social impact to support refugees and displaced people across the UK.
Brief.
The brief sought candidates with deep expertise in marketing, brand, commercial growth, and business development, ideally from fast-growing technology-enabled organisations or SaaS backgrounds. They needed to demonstrate the ability to shape strategy, provide constructive challenge, and, importantly, demonstrate a values alignment with Clear Voice and Migrant Help’s social purpose.
We mapped candidates nationally across technology, SaaS, technology-enabled businesses, language and interpretation services, and social enterprise sectors, prioritising those with proven track records in scaling businesses, developing go-to-market strategies, and leading customer engagement.
The Board was clear that these appointments were not about continuity but about injecting new perspectives and skills to support transformation. Our campaign attracted 11 strong applications, of which seven were interviewed, offering a diverse field with strong alignment to Clear Voice’s vision and ambitions.
Outcome.
Two outstanding candidates were appointed. One, a results-driven marketing leader with over 15 years of experience in sales and marketing, including a decade in the SaaS sector, with a strong track record of launching and scaling products globally. The other is a multi-disciplinary leader with expertise in product, marketing, and customer success, known for building and scaling teams and guiding organisations through transformational change.
Both bring commercial acumen, technology expertise, and a values-driven approach, ensuring Clear Voice benefits from independent challenge and fresh perspectives. Their appointments strengthen the Board’s ability to guide ambitious growth while staying true to the organisation’s social purpose.
