Special Events & Committees Manager
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity
Salary: Competitive + benefits
Location: Chelsea, with occasional travel to Sutton, Surrey
Reports to: Head of Trusts & High Value Committees
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. We ensure our nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world.
From funding state-of-the-art equipment and ground-breaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity is six months into its ambitious three year strategy that aims to significantly grow our income. Along with funding an existing world-class programme of research, treatment and care, we have also launched a £70 million capital appeal to build the Oak Cancer Centre that will provide radical new solutions for the research and treatment of cancer.
At The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, we are incredibly fortunate to benefit from the fundraising efforts of a range of high value committees. These supporters deliver events that raise substantial six figure income for our work.
We are a high performing team, and this role will play a vital role in helping us to realise our ambitions. As Special Events & Committees Manager you will lead on developing a growing income stream from high profile fundraising committees, events and tribute funds. Line managing an Executive, you will help to shape and deliver the new fundraising strategy to build upon, and significantly increase, funding to the hospital’s priority projects.
Coming from a background in special events, volunteer board fundraising or major gifts in the charity sector, you will have a proven ability and passion for relationship building and project management. Able to spot opportunities within our existing senior volunteer base, you will have the initiative and flexibility to work closely with supporters and other fundraising teams to identify and optimise new opportunities to ensure increased income. As tribute funds are often set up to raise funds in memory of someone who has passed away, you will need to be able to support these fundraisers with sensitivity and tact.
This position provides a rare opportunity to contribute significantly to a future beyond cancer. We hope you share our passion to achieve this aim.
