Interim Commercial Director, Students’ Union

Location: Midlands Daily rate: £Negotiable Length of project: Six months   Following a restructuring of the senior management team, our client, a £5m turnover students’ union, has created this new strategic role to oversee the union’s commercial services.  The commercial operations currently include a live music venue, catering facilities, bars, retail outlet and a Starbucks concession. As the first strategic director looking at commercial services this interim role has three key objectives: 1)      To review the commercial operations and work with the University to assess the potential for merger and collaboration.  Whether merger opportunities are identified and agreed or not, what is important is the quality of engagement with university stakeholders so that whatever the strategic direction in the future the university is fully supportive of that direction. 2)      To develop a new strategy and operating plan for the next three years to give structure and direction to the operations.  This will include measures to enhance customer service and develop the staff. 3)      To review the systems and processes to ensure that across the commercial services they are fit for purpose and enabling high-quality reporting and cost management. This is a 3 month assignment in adult social care, leading on a number of key projects. You need to have a demonstrable track record of success in managing projects in commissioning. The assignment starts immediately and will pay up to £300 per day. 2. Interim Head of Safeguarding (Borough Council). This is a 3 month assignment at a unitary authority just outside London. You must be a qualified social worker with strong knowledge and experience of adult safeguarding. The assignment starts immediately and will pay up to £500 per day. 3. Interim Senior Service Manager (London Borough). This is a 9 month role to lead and manage the assessment and care management service for older adults and physical disability and sensory impairment including safeguarding, mental Capacity Act and DoLs services.
