Chair of the Board, Coventry University Social Enterprise

Coventry University Social Enterprise (CUSE) champions the social enterprise capacity of all students, staff and alumni at Coventry University. Currently CUSE has 6 staff and supports 18 social enterprises that have been set up by staff, students and alumni. These span a range of disciplines from fashion to child protection and each is making a successful contribution to society. Coventry University is striving to create a climate that supports people to get enterprise ideas off the ground, and as such has developed a network of around 50 champions throughout the university who are promoting engagement with social enterprise. CUSE is also working across Coventry, through a new City Forum that it has set up with the aim of Coventry gaining recognition as a social enterprise city. CUSE has moved beyond its initial start-up phase and is now working towards self-sustainability as it builds a suite of services for start-ups. Growth and long-term sustainability are the main focus for CUSE now, as is building the Board and its capacity to support CUSE’s development. Unremunerated (Reasonable expenses will be paid) Location: Wigston, Leicestershire The Board of Trustees is appointed by the Council and is responsible for overseeing the management of IOSH affairs. The Board has legal accountability for all activities and results and consists of six IOSH members, four independents (non IOSH members) and the Chair (who may be a member or an independent). Being a Trustee of IOSH is a responsible position requiring an active role in the governance of the organisation. You will be involved in making decisions about the future of the organisation, supporting the Chief Executive and ensuring the legal obligations and charitable objectives are met. We are looking for two new Independent Trustees who can bring experience to the Board and in particular seek individuals with a commercial background in accounting and financial management and another in communications and public relations. Chief Executive, University of Salford Students’ Union

Salary: £55-60k Salford, Manchester Our vision is to be the outstanding organisation in the UK for delivering a positive student experience. We exist to represent the 18,000 students of Salford University; and are a student-led charity, supported by a professional management team, with c£3m turnover. Among our diverse activities we support over 110 clubs and societies; operate a Student Advice Centre; train and develop over 500 student representatives; and operate a food-led licensed venue. Over the past two years we have made great progress in developing USSU, and we are half-way through a strategy which focuses on creating a union with a culture based on strong values – one that is student-centred and collaborative. Our election turnout has significantly increased, and student satisfaction ratings have also improved.
