Salary: £50-£55K depending on experience  Oxford University Student Union (OUSU) is the representative body for all students at the University of Oxford.  As a student-lead charity we exist to represent, support and enhance the lives of the 22,000 students at the University. We offer advice; we provide training for students leading student representative bodies within Colleges, as well as to those involved in campaigning; we co-ordinate the Freshers’ Fair; and we run student media: the student newspaper – The Oxford Student and Oxford’s only student radio – Oxide.  And, of course, we actively represent our students within the University. Chair Of Board Of Trustees, Makaton

Location: Farnborough, Hampshire Voluntary role: Unremunerated Every day The Makaton Charity, a national charity that develops and champions ‘Makaton’, the UK’s leading language programme, is transforming lives by breaking down the isolation people feel when they can’t speak. Its purpose is to give everyone a voice and ‘Makaton’ is used as the main way to communicate by over 100,000 children and adults with communication difficulties. The charity has 13 paid staff and revenues of over £1m earning around 95% of its revenue from sales of its training manuals, products and publications and IP licences. Makaton training is currently delivered through a network of 1,100 tutors and trainers (licensed by the charity) as live training. The future is likely to see Makaton products and services also delivered direct to users via digital channels. Like many small charities The Makaton Charity has punched above its weight for many years, but our current resources and capacity are limiting our ability to reach the many more people who could benefit from using Makaton. We are also responding to the reduction in spending from our traditional customers because of cutbacks in budgets within the public sector by transforming our organisation to adapt to a new future. This means finding alternative ways to increase revenue, balancing our costs […]

Chief Executive, The Childhood Trust

Reports to: Chair and Trustee Board Location: London, with possibility of home working Salary: Circa £60,000 The Childhood Trust is a registered charity supporting vulnerable children living in poverty in London. We partner with frontline grass-roots organisations with a proven track record of success in alleviating child poverty via practical, emotional and inspirational focused projects. We provide grants and enable our partners to leverage our match funding to multiply the impact of our initial support. Furthermore we offer additional non-financial practical support and resources to help drive sustainability. More than 600,000 children live in poverty within London alone. These children will suffer from poor health and shorter life expectancy, statistically fewer life opportunities and have less chances of building a positive future. The Childhood Trust believes this inequality is unacceptable and is focussed on working with our partners to alleviate the impact of poverty and create a better future for children in London. We have helped over 50,000 children but we have the ambition to do much more and we are determined to extend our reach and impact. To enable us to achieve our aims we now seek a Chief Executive to lead our organisation’s next stage of growth. This role […]
