St Leonard’s Hospice is an independent charity which has been providing care and support for the local community in York and the surrounding area from Ryedale in the north to Selby in the south, for over 30 years. With an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ from the Care Quality Commission and a strong reputation within its community, the Hospice constantly strives to deliver the highest quality care and does this through a tireless focus on patients and their families and carers’ needs.

The Hospice has a 20 bed in-patient unit, provides a range of day services at its Sunflower Centre and a Hospice@Home service offering specialist palliative nursing care and support to patients and their families in the last few weeks of life.

As it looks ahead to its next strategy, the Hospice is now seeking to appoint an outstanding and values-led  individual to lead and collaborate with a highly capable team of staff and volunteers and work with an experienced Board, whilst continuing to develop St Leonard’s Hospice’s excellent reputation and capability for providing outstanding patient care.

As our next Chief Executive you will join a confident and financially secure organisation which is an exemplar in its field and has progressive plans for the future.  Our ideal candidate will be an enabling, supportive and developmental individual who leads by example and has a high level of emotional intelligence. You will have the ability to take forward our next strategic plan, working collaboratively with our staff, volunteers, patients, families and carers and key partners, to ensure it is focused on and responsive to our patients’ needs.

The role will have a keen outward focus, requiring you to be an accomplished and influential communicator, able to represent the Hospice authoritatively and credibly with our main stakeholders and continue to enhance our profile and reputation. You will also work to ensure St Leonard’s Hospice has a strong influence in policy areas and is recognised as a leading provider in its field.

Your background may be in the hospice sector or within the wider health or social care sectors and you must share our values and unwavering commitment to providing outstanding patient care.
