Rea Mattocks
Non Executive Director and Advisor

I am an independent consultant on projects ranging from director and assistant director recruitment for Peridot Partners and local authorities to investigation work for the Department of Health.

I qualified as a social worker in 1981 and first worked in a variety of London Boroughs as a medical social worker, a mental health social worker and a children's social worker before joining the NHS is 1992. Here I implemented community care across health and two local authorities and commissioned primary and community health care services before rejoining local government in 1996 as an Assistant Director of Social Services in a County Council. In 2000 I became Director of Housing and Community Services for a London Borough, before moving to Hampshire County Council as Director of Adult Services in 2005.

In 2008 I left Hampshire to set up my own charity for people with Uveitis. I work extensively with the public and third sectors, promoting partnerships between patient organisations and the NHS, and have raised the profile of people with rare diseases in order to ensure they gain equal access to healthcare and social care services. I am co-opted onto the health and social care scrutiny committee of my local authority and am a Trustee of a charity working with blind and vision impaired people.
